Activities to celebrate the 59th anniversary of War Invalid and Martyr Day (July 27th 1947 – July 27 2006)

Previously, on July 25 and 26, a delegation of Dongnai province, consisting of leaders of provincial Party Committee and People’s Council had paid visit to 20 policy families in Long An province in order to grant gratitude houses for these families, each house worth 20 million VND. Presently, over 1,700 mothers in Long An province have been granted the title of Vietnamese Heroic Mother and over 50,000 families are recognized as revolutionary families. The delegation had also paid a visit to the Center for taking care of war invalids in Ba Ria Vung Tau province and Thu Duc Vocational School in Ho Chi Minh City to ask after them about their health and to present gifts to them. According to well-informed sources, on this occasion 15,000 gifts have been offered to policy families in the province. 

In the morning of July 25, a group of doctors and nurses from Thong Nhat General hospital and the health centre of Thong Nhat district had provided free check-up and medicine for over 450 war invalids and members of policy families in the this district. The total expenses for this activity costs over 7.5 million VND. On the same day, the military headquarter of Vinh Cuu district in coordination with Vinh Cuu district’s authorities had handed over the key of gratitude house to relatives of Mr. Duong Ngoc Phoi, former officer of the headquarter. The cost of this house is 45 million VND. The “For the poor people” Fund of Military Zone 7 and Ministry of Defense sponsors 20 million VND the rest is from his relatives. On this occasion, the home affair and labor office of Vinh Cuu district organized a tour to Can Gio and Sac forest military base for over 100 war invalids and members of typical policy families.

On this occasion, leaders of Dong Tien Garment Company (Dovitec) in Bien Hoa city visited and presented gifts worth VND 700,000 each to 5 Vietnamese heroic mothers living in Nhon Trach district. Those mothers are being looked after and fostered for the rest time of life by the company.
