Trang Bom district celebrates the 55th anniversary of its victory.

 This is the first victory of our young military force against the French Colonist in the southeastern battlefield. Present at the meeting were Mr. Tran Dinh Thanh, member of Central Party Committee and Secretary of provincial Party Committee; Mr. Vo Van Mot, Deputy Secretary of provincial Party Committee and Chairman of provincial People’s Committee, 80 former soldiers and officers  of Lam Son company, 303 Battalion, armed forces and services of Thu Bien province who took part in the fight 55 years ago.

Before attending at the meeting, all delegates had visited the Trang Bom Victory Stele to offer incense and to commemorate those who died in the fight. It was in this place 55 years ago, the Lam Son Company of 303 Battalion together with other armed forces of Thu Bien province and local people won a glorious victory against French Colonist. And then, they  seized control of this key battle in the southeastern region and Trang Bom town and collected many booty. This was the first victory of our military force in the key battlefield in the southeastern and in Trang Bom town. This victory wiped out a key military zone of French Colonist in the Southeastern region and crushed the enemy’s scheme to attack on military zone D, a key military base of our military force. This had made the French Foreign Legion in this key battle converted into defense strategy. The victory of our military force against French Colonist in 1951 wrote an glorious chapter in the history of the “arduous but brave Southeastern region” . 

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Mai, former  commissar of the 60th Company of 303 Battalion recalled that the fight to occupy this military post was very short. And the fight received the supports of local people. They helped us to know about the enemy operation. Basing on this information, our officers decided to attack this military post.

Bring into play the heroic tradition over tens of years, the Party Committee and people of Trang Bom district made efforts to contribute to the glorious history of our country in the revolution to liberate the country from the occupation of French Colonist and American Empire. The district and its two commune were awarded the title of Hero of the People Armed Force in the resistance war against America. The ground of formerly battlefield is now the industrial zones and industrial complexes attracting hundreds of foreign and domestic projects with the total investment capital of over 1 million USD. The economic structure is transferred in the right direction and the economic growth rate is better and better. Social and cultural activities developed in both quality and quantity. National defense is maintained. The lives of local people have radically been improved. The belief of the mass in the Party and Government is strengthened.
