Dong Nai stepped up program of rural electrification

From 2001 to 2006, the company has put into use 683.6 km of medium tension lines, 1,209 low-tension lines and a transformer station with the capacity of 67,735.5 KVA with the total expenditure of over 204 billion VND, investing nearly 16.5 billion VND to upgrade the lines and the transformer station. While the number of households had access to the national electricity grid reached only 74.5 percent in 2000, this number reached 95 percent in 2005 and in 2006 the whole province had 136/136 villages gaining access to the national electricity grid with over 98 percent of hamlets and over 96 percent of households connected to electricity.

        Supplying electricity to rural areas, remote areas and ethnic minority areas, Dong Nai province has contributed to not only the improvement in cultural and spiritual lives for a great number of people but also the change in economic and agricultural structure of the localities, fostering craft careers (weaving, making household wooden products etc) and simultaneously developing household economy and farm economy, combining the large- scaled breeding of cattle and poultry.

        Dong Nai Electricity Company is making efforts to increase the number of households connected to electricity to 98 percent and ensure the safe and continuous operation and supply of electricity, contributing to the socio-economic and cultural development.
