Many projects are behind schedule

Long Thanh Airport Phase 1 is expected to be completed and put into operation by June 2026. This is considered the "golden" period for the province's development due to the scale and potential advantages that this "super" airport brings.
Recognizing Long Thanh Airport as a new growth pole for the province. Since the commencement of this project, Dong Nai has also started implementing a series of projects to "seize" the development potential. Among these, infrastructure projects connecting to Long Thanh Airport play a very important role. These are the main transportation routes connecting localities within the province to Long Thanh Airport to spread development momentum from this project.

According to the plan, four new infrastructure projects will be built, upgraded, and expanded to connect with Long Thanh Airport: Provincial Road 770B (passing through the districts of Dinh Quan, Thong Nhat, Cam My, Long Thanh, and Long Khanh City); upgrading and expanding Provincial Road 769 (passing through the districts of Thong Nhat, Long Thanh), Provincial Road 773 (passing through the districts of Xuan Loc, Cam My, and Long Khanh City); and the Inter-port Road Project in Nhon Trach District. However, at this time, the progress of these projects is delayed.

Mr. Ngo The An, Director of the Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, said the biggest obstacle affecting the progress of the projects is related to planning issues. The related plans are not synchronized, so the conditions for project approval are not met. Additionally, the projects have not yet carried out land clearance and land auction procedures related to advantageous land areas to create capital for the projects.

At the socio-economic briefing meeting in June, Provincial People's Council Chairman Thai Bao assessed that the four infrastructure projects connecting with Long Thanh Airport face the risk of not meeting the schedule. “These are Group A investment projects, with implementation progress from 2022-2027. The Provincial People's Council issued investment policy resolutions in 2021, but to date, the feasibility study reports of these projects have not been approved," said Chairman Thai Bao.

Listing the projects to be completed
According to Provincial People's Council Chairman Thai Bao, these projects, in addition to connecting Long Thanh Airport, also have a role in inter-regional connectivity. Therefore, the provincial People's Committee needs to direct relevant units to accelerate implementation progress. For projects facing planning issues, a review is needed to promptly implement partial planning adjustments.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Linh, Member of the Central Party Committee and Provincial Party Secretary, said that 2026 is expected to be the time when Long Thanh Airport is put into operation. This is a milestone for the province's development. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the works and projects related to Long Thanh Airport that must be completed by June 2026 and before. “The Provincial People's Committee Party must make a list of projects that must be completed before June 2026 to take off and connect with Long Thanh Airport," emphasized Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Hong Linh.

Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Hong Linh also stated that the list must clearly identify which public investment projects and social investment projects must be completed by the above timeframe to exploit the advantages of Long Thanh Airport. “When the airport takes off, are there hotels, commercial areas, completed connection roads, fuel supply warehouses, and related services for the airport ready? The list of items to be completed before June 2026, once established, must be reported to the Provincial Standing Committee, along with identifying who will be responsible for those projects and items," Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Hong Linh requested.
