(News Portal – Dong Nai) - The development of Dong Nai's provincial master plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, is based on the principle of making cultural values a pillar of sustainable development. This includes improving the physical and mental well-being of the people, creating the best living environment to attract talents, experts, scientists, and especially high-quality workers to live and work in Dong Nai.

Mr. Nguyen Hong An, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, presents certificates of completion for professional training to local cultural officers.

Transforming Cultural Spaces

Recognizing that cultural development is human development, the building of culture is also the establishment of a more fully developed Bien Hoa – Dong Nai. In recent times, Bien Hoa City has invested in, renovated, and upgraded cultural spaces while organizing a diverse range of cultural and sports activities to serve the public. The city has especially focused on developing cultural spaces connected with the Dong Nai River, green spaces in parks, preserving traditional craft villages, and promoting the value of historical and cultural sites.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thanh, Vice Chairman of Bien Hoa City People's Committee, emphasized that the city's cultural development is aligned with the growth of Bien Hoa – Dong Nai's human capital. In addition to investing in and upgrading parks and organizing tours to historical sites, the city also focuses on hosting a variety of cultural and sports events. From now until the end of the year, the city will organize a series of activities, including the Bien Hoa Book Festival 2024, the creation of the Bien Hoa – Dong Nai Heritage Road, and the establishment of a Bien Hoa Culinary Cultural Space on Phan Trung Street. These efforts aim to enhance the cultural and spiritual life of the people.

Given that the locality has around 1.3 million workers employed in local businesses, the province places particular importance on the cultural development of its labor force. According to historian Dr. Tran Quang Toai, Chairman of the Dong Nai Historical Science Association, in addition to organizing cultural and sports activities for workers, it is necessary to build an exhibition hall to preserve the cultural heritage of workers and industry in Bien Hoa Industrial Zone 1. This exhibition hall would not only connect with surrounding cultural institutions but also contribute to honoring Dong Nai's working class.

Focus on Quality Cultural Human Resources

With a focus on people as the center of development, Dong Nai has been accelerating the training and development of cultural staff, promoting the pioneering role of intellectuals and artists. Currently, the province has nearly 900 officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers in the fields of culture, sports, and tourism. Each year, the Dong Nai School of Culture and Arts trains about 200 students in various performing arts disciplines.

However, according to Mr. Tang Quoc Lap, Vice Chairman of the Long Khanh City People's Committee, the number of cultural and social officials in districts, communes, wards, and towns is insufficient compared to the workload and local requirements. Cultural officials not only manage cultural, family, sports, and tourism tasks but also handle information and communication, as well as digital transformation efforts. Therefore, the training of grassroots cultural human resources needs to be expanded to ensure the effective organization and implementation of activities.
