Tri An Lake during dry season in 2023

According to the chaiman, Tri An Hydropower Plant is constructing additional units to increase its capacity, so they need to increase the reservoir reserves. Previously, while the plant closed the dams, the topography remained unchanged, so there was a large amount of red gravel and sand deposited in the lakebed. If it is feasible, then dredging the lakebed will increase the reservoir reserves, and allow for additional materials to leveling future region’s key projects.

Tri An lake has an surface area of 323 km2, with a total capacity of 2,765 billion m3, and 2,547 billion m3 of usable capacity. This is a huge man-made lake in Dong Nai river, stretching over districts like Vinh Cuu, Dinh Quan, Thong Nhat and Trang Bom. The lake is where Tri An Hydropower Plant draws water from, it also regulates water in downstream areas.
