To celebrate the Date of Revolution in Journalism (June 26th), on the morning of June 19th, Vietnam News Agencies (VNA) organized a grand ceremony to honor the 55th year anniversary of the Photo editing group (1957-2012) and received the of Independence Medal level 3.
Participants comprised of Vice president of the Congress Uong Chi Luu, Minister of Information and Communication Nguyen Bac Son, representatives of other central departments and ministries as well as some other provinces, together with former leaders of the VNA, journalists, editors of VNA and the Photo editing group.
Giving the opening speech at the ceremony, General Manager of TTXVN, Nguyen Duc Loi said that: the Independence medal level 3 being rewarded to the Photo editing team is a precious acknowledgement of the Party and the Government, also the pride, the notion of hard works of the Photo editing group that has been contributing to the revolution in journalism of the country. 55 years ago, the Photo editing group was established under the name Photography team of Vietnam News Agency as a mean of communication, a separate department in the organizational structure of VNA. After a half of century with glorious efforts, members of the group have always accompanied our people; with passion and sacrifice, they have captured the history of the country in the most vivid images and precious moments.
The General Manager of VNA emphasized: those communicative journalists have written those glorious pages of history, many of those have sacrificed themselves for the sake of the national development. Among the 262 martyrs who were journalists, more than 40 journalists, photograph technicians of the Photograph team have forever laid down their lives on the battlefields. This greatly contributed to the development and branding and has helped VNA to have invaluable images, a significant collection of documentary photos.
Reporting at the ceremony, Team leader of the Photo editing group, Pham Tien Dung stated: Not only have they gained memorable achievements during war time, nowadays, members, journalists of the Photo group have also been meticulously working at every corner of the country to capture the sensational, unique moment of time, accurately reflecting the fast movement of every facet of life. 2 members of the Photo group have won the Ho Chi Minh award and many journalists have been awarded with the National literature award, The National Journalism award… Currently, the Photo editing group takes and uploads to the Internet to support the mass media hundreds of images of all fields, regions, borders, islands and remote areas.
Mr Uong Chi Luu, Vice president of the Congress on behalf of the Party and Government has presented the Independence medal award level 3 by the President to the Photo editing group of TTXVN.
Giving speech at the ceremony, Vice president of the Congress Uong Chi Luu stated: To have those unique pictures to serve the development of the country, journalists had to strive, sacrifice and deal with difficulties. Uong Chi Luu believed that with this reputation, in the future VNA will continue to try its best in the spirit of cooperation and unification, actively and passionately, to reach for new accomplishment, and contribute more and more to the national development and defense.
Uong Chi Luu suggested that, the Photo editing group in particular and VNA in general should fully grasp and stick to the Central Resolution 5 (term X) about the ideological work and journalism upon the need for journalistic reform; paying close attention to the lives of the citizens, in order to vividly reflect the nature of life, contributing to the exciting, reliable and democratic atmosphere of every person and the society as a whole. Besides, the vast number of images built by the previous generations of journalists should be properly preserved and made use of. It is to aim at to the diversification of means of graphic communication such as the publishing of graphic books, specialized exhibition, online information website…
The Vice president of the Congress hoped that, in order to fulfill the position, responsibilities of those who “capture the history of the country by their camera”, every journalist has to continuously raise their awareness, train for political will, strive for improvement in their expertise and a deep knowledge of the history of the country. VNA should make every efforts for journalists to be trained systematically and professionally; invest in modern equipments…
At the ceremony, TTXVN also exhibited many famous masterpieces that had won high level award and introduced the book “Vietnam trong anh chop lua dan” by the journalist, martyr Luong Nghia Dung, formerly a member of the Photo editing group, once awarded the National award by the masterpiece “Dau Phao o Doc Mieu”./.
