The 19th  Congress of Dong Nai People's Council (7th term): on the approval of sixteen major resolutions

July 2, the 19th Congress of Dong Nai People's Council (7th term) of three days came to a close. The Congress took sixteen major resolutions, including nine on special subjects into consideration and then passed them. It also issued a decision to approve Dong Nai People’s Committee members’ leaving office and elected the Military Committee’s additional members.

A vote session to pass resolutions

At the closing session of the Congress, Mr. Tran Dinh Thanh - Party Member of the Central Party Committee, Secretary of Dong Nai Party Committee and Chairman of Dong Nai People’s Council delivered address, saying that overall, the Party Committee’s leadership along with all the political system’s efforts in the first half of 2010 helped Dong Nai through difficulties, facilitating production and business activities, maintaining social security and stability, contributing to the country’s growth and boosting the development in the second half of the year.

Economically, GDP for Dong Nai province in the first half of 2010 rose by 13 percent compared to 7.14 percent in 2009; budget revenues reached 57 percent according to estimates, up 25 percent over the same period; export turnover hit 48 percent according to plan targets, up 26.6 percent over the same period; foreign investment went up to US$502.6 mil, accounting for 33.4 percent according to the year plan targets, 6.8 times as many as the same period; social and cultural issues were paid much attention to; a variety  of musical and cultural activities were held to serve political objectives; providing healthcare, education and job creation services and taking care of the poor and government-policy beneficiaries showed positive results; the rate of traffic accidents, drug evils and social security violations declined.

Despite the positive results in the first half of the year, there remain arduous tasks in the second half, Thanh said.

Dong Nai had to continue efforts to achieve twenty five socio-economic targets and take initiative to tackle the problems concerning investment attraction, exports, price controls, inflation and site clearance and compensation that may arise in the second half of the year, he continued.

To welcome the 9th Dong Nai Party Congress, the Congress also regarded the second half of the year as a “tough race” for the fulfillment of 2010 tasks and 2006-2010 targets, for the participation in emulation movements and for the attempt to obtain achievements.

A vote session to select additional members for Dong Nai People’s Committee

    Thanh requested Dong Nai People's Committee, departments and People's Committees at all levels fulfill the targets concerning economic growth, agriculture, rural areas and farmers, enhance administrative reforms, strengthen the State management roles in sectors and levels, increase the efficiency of anti-corruption-and-waste programs, enforce saving policies, deal with issues on employment and on cultural, educational and medical socialization, continue housing projects for and offer assistance to the poor, provide low-cost housing for workers and implement poverty reduction programs quickly, steadily and effectively.
