Facing the blood demands from those hospitals in the province and the Blood Transfusion Center of Cho Ray Area, the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Humanitarian Blood Donation has boosted steering and propagating mission in many activities with encouraging results. In detail, the whole province received only 353 blood units in 2003 but the amount of blood donated increasingly reached 3,452 units in 2004 and 4,290 units in 2005. Furthermore, in 2006, 5,913 units (123.18% of planned target) were totally collected from 19 Steering Boards of those districts and towns, companies and schools… in the province. Among those, 3,424 units have been distributed to hospitals in the province with the rest sent to the Blood Transfusion Center of Cho Ray Area.

At the Summational and Honoring Ceremony on Voluntary Humanitarian Blood Donation held this morning (6th April), Dong Nai Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation encouragingly granted honoring badges to individuals and communities actively participating in the humanitarian blood donation campaign in 2006. Four donors receiving Gold Badges were Mr. Dau Khac Chau and Ms. Dinh Thi Loan in Long Khanh District; Mr. Phan Ha Quoc Dung and Ms. Vo Thi Huu, Chairman of the Labor Union and Member of Pupil’s Parent Association of Song Ray High School respectively in Cam My District. Silver Badges were granted to 10 individuals willingly taking part in steering activity with many times of donation; 62 individuals received the Bronze Badges; 230 individuals with over 3 donation times were honored with “Drop of Blood” Badges; 19 communities and other 16 individuals received Certificates of Merit for great contribution to the campaign.
In his speech at the meeting, Mr. Ao Van Thinh, Vice Chairman of Dong Nai People’s Committee, highly appreciated the encouraging results achieved by the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Humanitarian Blood Donation. However, he added that the Committee have to more and more strengthen the propagating activity to spread the meaning and the essence of the Humanitarian Blood Donation Campaign in people of all classes in the society as well as to cooperate with the Provincial Health Service to arrange adequate conditions of human force for taking the blood when people want to make donations.
