Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe visits Dong Nai

Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, Minister of Vatican Missionary Works paid a visit to Dong Nai province yesterday afternoon.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee presents a souvenir to Cardinal  Crescenzio Sepe

 

 Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe was warmly received by Vice Chairman of the Provincial people’s Committee Huynh Van Toi, representatives from relevant organizations, bishops for 3 dioceses such as Ho Chi Minh city, Xuan Loc district and Ba Ria province and parsons in all the dioceses of Dong Nai.

Mr. Huynh Van Toi said that Dong Nai province has 200 dioceses with more than 800,000 Catholics. Besides, there are now 50 religious houses of men and women in the province. He also emphasized that religious groups in the province enjoy the full freedom to worship. Accordingly, Christians find it easy to obtain authorization to repair or build new churches. In other words, Church dignitaries and Christians have an ultimate love and loyalty toward God and the homeland. They have an ordered love both for God and country.  Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe was very pleased to see that the Church here has always enjoyed a good relationship with the government. According to him, this cooperation will make great contribution to prosperity and stabilization of the country. Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe also hoped that bishops or parsons should actively encourage Church members to take part charity activities and effectively contribute to the development of the country.

Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe‘s visit to Viet Nam took place from November 28 to December 5 at the invitation of the Viet Nam Episcopal Council. During the visit, Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe and his delegation visited Ha Noi, Hue and HCM City, as well as the provinces of Quang Tri, Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Dong Nai. He also attended a priest ordination ceremony in Ha Noi, chaired a ceremony to set up a new diocese in Ba Ria and took part in religious activities at the above-mentioned localities.
