In the morning of July 09, 10th session of 8th provincial People’s Council officially started with the participation of 78/79 delegates, 22 voters representing all electors in 11 districts, towns and cities of the province. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Tran Minh Thau, member of Standing Commission of Party Central Committee and Party Provincial Committee; Mr. Dinh Quoc Thai, deputy secretary of Party Provincial Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Tran Van Tu, member of Standing Commission of Party Central Committee, Head of National Assembly delegation, Chairman of provincial People’s Council; Mr. Vy Van Vu, member of Standing Commission of Party Central Committee, Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee, etc.
Speaking at the opening session ceremony, Chairman of provincial People’s Council, Mr. Tran Van Tu said that economic situation had a positive change in the first six months of 2014 compared with the same period in 2013, but many difficulties and challenges still stay ahead. Thanks to efforts of the party, the government, the people and the businesses community, Dong Nai has overcome obstacles and achieved some encouraging results: a 10.8% year-on-year increase in the total gross regional domestic product (GRDP), the overall growth of production value of industries. In particular, the party and local government conducted promptly actions to prevent and support businesses affected by the incident on May 13 and 14 to resume their normal operation, etc.
At the meeting session on July 09th, representatives of provincial People’s Council listened to reports, documents, and plans of provincial People’s Committee on results of performing tasks and objectives for socio-economic development, national defense – security during the first six months of 2014; assessment reports by different boards of provincial People’s Council, including such important issues as master planning, exploration, exploitation and use of minerals; support tuition fee for students following regular mode of training in medicine and pharmacy university; naming the street after General Vo Nguyen Giap; urban and housing development program in the province, etc.
In the morning of July 10, delegates discussed in group and in the meeting hall to find out solutions for socio-economic development during the last six months. The session is scheduled to last until July 11th.
