In the morning of July 4, Hoa An bridge and Tan Van overpass were opened to traffic, and at the same time, the construction was launched for a flyover at Amata intersection and a tunnel at Tam Hiep junction under the Dong Nai New Bridge Project. The ceremony were jointly held by Dong Nai provincial People's Committee (PPC), Corporation for Development of Industrial Zones (Sonadezi), Construction Corporation No.1 (CC1)
These above transport projects have untied the traffic intersections, opened the two gateways from Dong Nai province to Ho Chi Minh and cleared north – south arterial road through Bien Hoa city that is used to be frequently blocked. And they have contributed significantly to socio-economic development for the Southern key economic zone.
The two gateways is no longer congested
For new Hoa An bridge project, Sonadezi Corporation has completed many important works items: branch bridge, main bridge, path and intersection of the two bridge ends. The 1.3 km Hoa An bridge is designed and built in parallel with and away from old Hoa An bridge about 14.8 m towards downstream of Dong Nai River. At present, rehabilitation of old Hoa An bridge is sped up to complete by the end of this year.
Mr. Tran Thanh Hai, deputy director-general of Sonadezi Corporation said that: This project commenced in December, 2010 and completed after three and a half years of construction. During the construction period, many difficulties arose in terms of in site clearance, relocation of infrastructure systems involving multiple agencies, etc. Therefore, the project is delayed in six months compared with proposed plan. Defining Hoa An bridge construction project is an important task, the company made great efforts in overcoming these obstacles to complete the project with the assistance from provincial departments and authorities of Bien Hoa city.

Completion of Hoa An bridge is basically solves the traffic overload in the route from the inner Bien Hoa city to Binh Duong, Ho Chi Minh City. Before the entire new bridge is put into use, Sonadezi also allows normal traffic flow on the branch bridge to repair old Hoa An bridge. After the bridge is opened to traffic, there will be normal influx of vehicles on the bridge.
North-South arterial road is cleared
Along with new Hoa An bridge, the steel overpass at Tan Van intersection is also opened to traffic and new Dong Nai bridge project started construction with a steel flyover at Amata intersection and a tunnel at Tam Hiep junction. These projects will provide a more convenient highway no. 1 for vehicles accessing to this north-south arterial road running though Bien Hoa city.
Currently, the main construction items have basically completed and waited to be opened to traffic including new Dong Nai Bridge, a flyover at Tan Van roundabout and two bridge ends of Dong Nai Bridge. The asphalt overlay is urgently placed over the road expansion sector connecting from Dong Nai Bridge to Tan Van flyover. Mr. Le Hong Son, General Director of CC1 said that site hand-over was finished between Bien Hoa city and Binh Duong last June; so the whole project can progress smoothly; especially the steel flyover Tan Van has been completed and opens to traffic on the same day with Hoa An bridge.
At the end of this year, Tam Hiep tunnel and Amata flyover will open to traffic
After the flyover opened to public, CC1 immediately launched the ground-breaking ceremony for another flyover at Amata intersection and a tunnel at Tam Hiep junction. Total investment capital for redesigning traffic at these two intersections totals up to 455 billion VND; of which 368 billion VND is construction cost (213 billion VND for Tam Hiep tunnel and 155 billion VND for Amata flyover) and the remaining 87 billion VND is cost of site clearance, consultancy, management and provisional money for the project.

According to the design plan, the tunnel at Tam Hiep roundabout is constructed to offering four traffic lanes, two-lane frontage roads on each side; so the total cross section is 8 traffic lanes. This roundabout will also be rehabilitated and or traffic flow will be directed by 40m diameter rotary island and small islands above the tunnel. At Amata intersection, a flyover will be built along Highway 1A for traffic flow from Ho Chi Minh City to the north and vice versa. It will allow 4 traffic lanes, two-lane frontage roads on each side.
Those design plans of project's owner were approved by Ministry of Transportation and Provincial People’s Committee. These two construction works are scheduled to complete at the end of this year; especially for a flyover at Amata intersection requires no site clearance and no complicated design, it can open to traffic earlier.
According to Vice Chairman of PPC, Tran Van Vinh, transport infrastructure is always considered as breakthrough issue in Dong Nai province. Transport projects such as Hoa An bridge, Dong Nai bridge, the flyovers at the highway will mitigate traffic accidents, avoid traffic congestion in the short-term and boost investment attraction for provincial socio-economic development in the long term.
