Vietnam Economic Forum 2021: Recovery and Sustainable Development

Speaking at the opening of the forum, the National Assembly Chairman emphasized, "Vietnam Economic Forum 2021: Recovery and Sustainable Development" is very important to contribute to clarifying scientific and practical arguments, international experience for the National Assembly and the Government to consider and resolve policy packages, fiscal and monetary solutions, both to meet the requirements of Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control, and to support the goal of recovery of economic and social development. Thereby, in order to concretize the policy stated in the Document of the 4th Plenum of the Party Central Committee, Term XIII and the Resolution of the 2nd Session of the 15th National Assembly, contributing to the completion of the socio-economic targets of 2022, and for the whole 5-year term according to specific goals and targets.

According to National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, in the past time, in order to cope with the epidemic, overcome the damage and impact of the epidemic, recover and develop socio-economic, Vietnam has used flexibly and quite synchronized fiscal and monetary policies as well as other macro policies. The National Assembly has also issued a Resolution, deciding on frameworks for policies, plans for economic and social development, budgetary finance, public borrowing and debt repayment, public investment and economic restructuring plans for the period 2020 - 2025. In addition, the 2nd session of the last 15th National Assembly issued a Resolution assigning the Government to develop and implement according to its competence the Master Program on Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control according the motto "safe adaptation, flexibility and effective disease control"; at the same time, develop and organize the implementation of the Master Program on economic recovery and development. The National Assembly's resolution also assigns the Government to develop fiscal and monetary policy packages to support these two programs, serving the goals of Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control as well as economic recovery and development, submit to the National Assembly for consideration.

At the forum, speakers and scientists shared many international experiences in disease prevention and control and economic recovery. Along with that, give policy suggestions, opinions on assessing the current situation of Vietnam's economy, recommendations for the socio-economic recovery program, and suggestions for fiscal and monetary policies to support socio-economic recovery and development. Speakers and scientists also updated and evaluated the latest issues on the current epidemic prevention and control situation around the world; analyze, evaluate and forecast trends and impacts of the epidemic, the current situation of the world economy and in the future, especially in the context that Vietnam has deeply and widely integrated into the world economy.
