Since the beginning of the year, the agricultural industry has faced many challenges due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic. The key difficulties such as: the selling of agricultural products faces many difficulties, causing the value of harvested products per unit area to decrease sharply, the income of farmers has been affected; Diseases on livestock and plants have been still complicated; the relocation of cages/rafts to the planned area on Tri An Lake is still slow compared to the planned schedule; the target of establishing new agricultural cooperatives has not been achieved, etc.
However, in the first 10 months of 2021, the agricultural sector still achieved and exceeded most of the assigned targets such as: the target of rural residents using clean water according to national standards; There were 13 more newly improved rural communes, 3 model new rural communes, exceeding the assigned resolution targets. In particular, the value of agricultural, forestry and fishery production increased by 3.43% over the same period in 2020.
At the meeting, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development proposed the Provincial People's Committee to direct localities to speed up the process of arranging slaughter in the province; strengthen the inspection and handling of cases of illegal slaughtering, not following the planning; accept the investment policy of the project to repair the surface of the dike to prevent salinity in the districts of Long Thanh and Nhon Trach; approve the policy of assigning the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to be the investor in the construction of a centralized water supply system project among communes of Lam San, Song Ray, Xuan Dong, and Xuan Tay, Cam My district.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Phi assessed that the agricultural sector has implemented many effective programs in the prevention of the Covid-19 epidemic such as: supporting farmers to consume agricultural products; food and food support for Covid-19 isolation areas… In spite of many difficulties, the value of agricultural, forestry and fishery production still achieved growth; especially the wood industry contributes quite a lot to exports. In this occasion, he also requested the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to develop a plan on inspection and handling of slaughtering activities to restore the order of management of food hygiene and safety issues. The authorities need to strictly handle forest ranger violations. Currently preparing for the Winter-Spring crop, localities need to pay attention to the production direction of varieties, timely deployment of the crop, especially irrigation for production. Regarding the preparation for the 2022 Lunar New Year market, localities must focus on epidemic prevention, especially African swine fever, which is showing signs of outbreak in many provinces and cities across the country, ensuring the enough supply of pork during the Tet Holiday’s market. Continue to complete the application procedures, ensuring compliance with the objectives set out in new rural construction; OCOP program.
