Promoting economic diplomacy for the development of country

​On the evening of September 19, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired an online conference with Heads of Vietnamese representative agency abroad on promoting economic diplomacy for development of country.

Attending the Conference were Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh; Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh; Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son; leaders of ministries and branches. At Dong Nai bridge point, there were the attendance of Chairman of Provincial People's Committee Cao Tien Dung and related departments and agencies.

Prime Minister speaks online with bridge points

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in recent years, diplomatic work, especially economic diplomacy, has been paid special attention and implemented drastically. The Secretariat of the Party Central Committee has also issued the Secretariat's Directive on economic diplomacy to serve the country's development until 2030. The goal is to create an environment of peace, cooperation, increasing Vietnam's position and image in the international arena.

From a focus on vaccine diplomacy, health diplomacy has moved quickly to measures for economic recovery. Hundreds of diplomatic and economic activities have been held over the past 8 months. Many policy consultancy activities, contributing to advising the Government to stabilize and develop the economy and society, keep the growth rate high.

At the conference, representatives of Vietnamese embassies in some key countries overviewed the local situation and proposed a number of solutions to promote bilateral economic diplomacy. Representatives of ministries, branches, localities, businesses and big economic groups also proposed policies to increase the export of Vietnamese goods to the world.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh identified that foreign affairs and international integration have been strengthened and promoted, in line with the world situation, Vietnam's perspectives on international issues were shared and agreed by friends and partners, many international organizations highly appreciate the situation and development prospects of Vietnam.

​According to the Prime Minister, Directive No. 15 of the Secretariat continues to define: “Economic diplomacy is a fundamental and central task of Vietnam's diplomacy, an important driving force for rapid and sustainable national development…". The Prime Minister asked relevant units to carefully assess the situation, identify opportunities and challenges, and then promptly propose policies suitable to the world and regional situation. Overseas Vietnamese representative agencies play an important role in promoting the image and brand of the country and connecting cooperation and diplomacy, affirming independent and self-reliant viewpoints and actively integrating into the world throughout of Vietnam.

Economically, three important tasks for the economy are investment, export and consumption to promote growth. Governments, ministries, branches, localities and businesses need to deploy solutions to be able to seize development opportunities. Accordingly, the important task is to take advantage of the trend of shifting supply chains, increasing investment attraction and technology transfer, providing financial support, and training human resources; expanding export markets in parallel with maintaining the position and prestige of goods and national brands in the international arena.
