Guaranteed to operate the first flight at Long Thanh airport on September 2, 2025

​The Ministry of Transport has just announced the conclusion of Deputy Minister Le Anh Tuan at the meeting to review the progress of the component project 1 of the construction investment project of Long Thanh International Airport phase 1.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the Long Thanh airport project is a national major project, the Government and the Ministry of Transport are drastically directing the investor of Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) to complete the project, component project 3, ensuring the operation of the first flight on September 2, 2025. Therefore, to be able to complete synchronously and put the project into operation on schedule according to the direction of the Government, the completion of component projects on schedule is a prerequisite.

For the component project 1, although the investors have actively implemented parallel procedures (land handover, investment preparation, advice on static altitude, agreement on connection with neighboring works, preparation of documents for the total ground, ...) but compared to the registration progress, the progress is still not satisfactory. Up to now, in addition to the Southern Airport Authority, which has been allocated capital and the Ministry of Transport has approved the investment policy to implement according to the plan, the progress of the remaining component projects has not changed because the line ministries and the Provincial People's Committee have not allocated medium-term capital

​In order to ensure the progress of component projects and be ready to deploy as soon as capital is allocated, the Ministry of Transport and Communications requires the units to closely coordinate and actively connect with the investor ACV and the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam in land handover for project implementation.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam is responsible for providing specific information to send to the investors of the items component project 1 for convenience in connection as well as working focal point in the process of coordinating the implementation of the project; guide the Vietnam Immigration Department, the Ministry of Public Security and other investors in the preparation of drawing of the total ground, connection work, as well as directing the Southern Airport Authority in the handover of land for project implementation.

Long Thanh airport construction project phase 1 has a total investment of more than VND 109 thousand billion. The capacity to serve 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of cargo per year. The project implementation period is from 2020 to 2025.

 The project is divided into 4 component projects, including: Component 1 project - the buildings of the headquarters of state management agencies; component project 2 – constructions for flight management service; component project 3 - essential constructions in the airport and component project 4- other construction.
