People entering Vietnam have to quarantine and self-monitor their health for 14 days

On December 16, the Ministry of Health sent a document to the People's Committees of provinces, cities, ministries and ministerial-level agencies on the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic for people entering Vietnam.

Accordingly, from January 1, 2022, the general requirement for people entering Vietnam is to have a negative test result for SARS-CoV-2 by RT-PCR/RT-LAMP method within 72 hours before entering into Vietnam (except for children under 2 years old). Make a medical declaration before entering the country. When entering Vietnam, the people must install and use the PC-Covid application into electronic devices for medical declarations.

 

In case the entrants are Vietnamese citizens, Vietnamese residing overseas and their relatives (spouse, children) who have not been vaccinated or have not received enough doses of Covid-19 vaccine, they will be vaccinated against Covid-19 for free during the quarantine period if eligible for injection. Persons entering Vietnam shall pay the costs of testing, medical quarantine, medical examination and treatment and other related expenses as prescribed in Resolution No. 16 dated February 8, 2021 of the Government.

 

For those who have received a full dose of vaccine or have recovered from Covid-19 within 6 months, within the first 3 days since the date of entry, they must self-monitor their health at the place of residence, not allow to contact people around and go out of the residence. Test for SARS-CoV-2 by RT-PCR on the 3rd day from the date of entry. If the entrants have negative test results for SARS-CoV-2, they have to continue to monitor until the end of 14 days from the date of entry. If the test results are positive, they have to be handled according to regulations.

 

For those entering Vietnam who have not been vaccinated or have received less than 2 doses of the vaccine, they will be isolated at the place of residence for 7 days from the date of entry. PCR tests must be performed on the 3rd and 7th day. If the results are negative, they must continue monitoring the health status until the end of 14 days.

 

For those entering the country who are 18 years old, 65 years old or older, pregnant women, and people with underlying medical conditions, they will be quarantined with their parents or people taking care of them. Caregivers must be injected already the full dose of vaccine or have recovered from Covid-19 and strictly follow epidemic prevention regulations.

 

During the process of moving from the border gate of entry to the place of residence, people on entry must strictly comply with 5K principle. Drivers of vehicles transporting people on entry must limit stopping and parking along the road. In special cases where it is necessary to stop and park along the road, measures to prevent epidemics must be taken.
