In recent years, environmental issues in agricultural production have been concerned by all levels, functional departments of the province and producers. Many environmental protection measures have been implemented, including reducing pesticides, chemical fertilizers and antibiotics.
At the same time, the methods of organic farming and animal husbandry are gradually directed towards the purpose of greening the production area and protecting the health of producers and consumers.
Many appearances of clean production models
In Xuan Loc District, before the construction of new rural areas, environmental pollution caused by domestic waste and agricultural production was a prominent issue. Along the roads, many spontaneous landfills are formed. In the fields, pesticide packaging are thrown indiscriminately. To solve this situation, district authorities have implemented a series of measures such as promoting the collection, transportation, and disposal of waste; investing in collection tanks, trash cans, trolleys and sign contracts with garbage collection units; re-planning cultivation and husbandry areas, etc.
Along with that is the organization of a series of movements and programs such as: planting trees, building a bright - green - clean - beautiful road, collecting hazardous waste, etc. Up to now, Xuan Loc District has become one of the typical examples of the province in implementing environmental criteria.
Mr. Tran Quang, Director of Xuan Tien Agricultural Service Trading Co-operative (Xuan Phu Commune, Xuan Loc District) shared that in order to carry out the district's policy, on a large field of 150 hectares of rice and corn, the Cooperative have mobilized its members to classify and dispose of rubbish at the prescribed places, use probiotics instead of chemical fertilizers; using microbial pesticides to keep the soil from getting faded, creating delicious, clean and healthy products.
In Hieu Liem Commune (Vinh Cuu District), many VieGAP production models are also being replicated. Mr. Tran Cong Minh, owner of the 14ha organic jackfruit garden, said his family's jackfruit garden uses micro-organic fertilizer from seeding to harvesting. Compared with using fertilizers and chemical pesticides, microbiological fertilizers have a higher cost; consumers will be guaranteed; The product will be sold at a higher price, the life of the plant will be longer, and the land will be more fertile. Regarding the packaging of fertilizers and pesticides, Mr. Minh will collect, pack and hand over to the collector. At present, jackfruit jackfruit in Mr. Minh's garden is consumed by a company based in Ho Chi Minh City at a price higher than the market price of VND 3,000/kg.
Many years ago, the “capital” of industrial chicken raising in Trang Bom District was always in the state of air pollution. In the rainy season, diseases related to the respiratory tract in humans and animals increase significantly. From the orientation of the locality, many households and farms in the area have turned to biosafety breeding models, cold and closed cages combined with the use of probiotics to treat faeces, so the air pollution and diseases on poultry significantly reduced.
Mr. Doan Xuan Truong, Head of Economic Division of Trang Bom District, said that thanks to the application of many measures, thanks to the application of many measures, the district has been recognized as a disease-free area for poultry and is now carrying out procedures for cattle-raising areas. In addition to the criteria for waste treatment, farms are moving towards biosecurity models.
Towards biological models, safe products

In the implementation of environmental protection in agricultural production areas, in recent years, the provincial government has directed the Farmers' Association and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to coordinate with localities to propagate and orient producers to use fertilizers and pesticides for crops. In addition, using antibiotics and pet food that have little impact on the soil, water and air environment while ensuring productivity and quality.
From many sources of capital, the whole province has built more than 1.1 thousand pesticide packaging tanks, an average of 6.3 tons of hazardous waste is collected annually, which supporting the construction of thousands of biogas plants, implementing the project of applying bio-padding in animal husbandry, encouraging and having mechanisms to support agricultural production models under the GAP process. The Provincial Agriculture has also established a list of pesticides recommended for use, with priority given to drugs with biological sources; strengthen inspection on pesticide trading activities, coordinate with localities to organize many training courses for farmers to use balanced chemical fertilizers to limit barren land and environmental pollution.
Mr. Tran Van Phi, Chairman of the Provincial Farmers 'Union, said that over the past time, the Farmers' Association at all levels often integrated the rural environmental protection program into meetings and training courses to raise awareness for members. In many fields, the Association has cooperated with companies producing and trading in plant protection drugs to set up the collection boxes for bottles, medicine bags and periodic collection and destruction. In addition, the Farmers Union mobilizes farmers to apply safe production and waste collection models.
From the aforementioned approach, the rural environment in many places has improved better, but the risk of pollution still exists. That is, many tanks containing pesticide packaging do not meet the criteria set out (closed tanks, with bottoms, lids), the garbage collection in erratic tanks leads to the risk of contamination from storage tanks; and large number of farmers use dangerous chemical fertilizers and pesticide. A large amount of gas in biogas digesters has not been used as a renewable energy source. Therefore, in order for the rural environment to be truly green, farmers must change their habits, apply a clean, organic production process, and use fertilizers and medicines that are less harmful to the environment.
