“Fruit stall” of the province

Right from the early days of May, gardeners of Long Khanh City have started harvesting fruits. Locations of communes and wards such as Binh Loc, Hang Gon, Bao Quang, Xuan Tan, Xuan Lap, etc., are no longer strange to people both internal and external the province, because here are the formation of large fields linking production with consumption of durian, rambutan, clean vegetables, etc.

Or as in Binh Loc commune which is currently the most famous locality of Long Khanh because this place not only focuses on a variety of fruits, including java rambutan varieties that have been given geographical indications, but farmers here also effectively exploit the potential of home garden tourism, contributing to improving the lives of people. Mr. Lam Phi Hung, owner of Sau Hung orchard (Hamlet 1, Binh Loc commune), said that Binh Loc is at its peak of fruit season, these days most of the time of the farmers in the commune is spent outside the garden for harvesting agricultural products to enable traders to deliver their goods. “This year the fruit is good but the price of durian, rambutan and other fruits are cheap”. The main cause is the influence of Covid-19 epidemic. Farmers have anticipated so everyone should be prepared mentally. Currently, the gardeners are working together to exploit tourism, serve visitors with fruit for eat-in and carry-out. “Due to the tourism planning, the gardeners take care of the garden towards clean production to ensure visitors’ health when picking and eating-in at the garden” - Mr. Hung shared.

‘Garden tourism’ attracts visitors

Not only in Binh Loc commune, other localities such as Xuan Tan, Xuan Lap and Bau Sen wards; Bao Quang and Hang Gon communes, etc., are currently implementing garden tourism.

According to the People's Committee of Long Khanh City, there are currently more than 100 households in the city who are cooperating to exploit garden houses, especially in the fruit season (from May to September each year). Each year, Long Khanh's garden tourism welcomes tens of thousands of visitors. Therefore, in order to take full advantage of the advantages, localities are also trying to mobilize and coordinate with farmers to build beautiful garden models, creating landscapes for gardens, serving food and entertainment upon visitors’ demand.

Mr. Tran Van Loc, Loc La's garden owner said that these days his orchard welcomes 100-200 guests a day, on weekends the number of visitors increases from 300-400. According to Mr. Loc, this year the number of weekends is more than the previous year, each tour includes 3 fruit gardens for VND 100,000/person. Mr. Loc shared: “In the garden, visitors are free to pick fruits and eat-in unlimited; and if they want to buy it, then gardeners will sell for an affordable price, without ripping off. There is also no time limit for visiting the gardens. This year is the third year that garden tourism is exploited, farmers also gained a lot of experience so the service is really good, visitors are satisfied, the catering service in the garden is also thoughtful, ensuring food hygiene and safety as prescribed”.

Mr. Bui Quoc The, Vice Chairman of Long Khanh City People's Committee, said that Long Khanh is a land of diverse and abundant fruit trees, with four seasons sweet fruits. Long Khanh also has a lot of orchards that are dozens of years old, cultivated towards sustainability, ensuring product quality. Therefore, this place has become a reliable address of fruits and quality agricultural products. The development of Long Khanh tourism through the introduction, promotion and connection of historical sites and architectural works of the city, in association with garden ecotourism is an important goal defined by the city in tourism development plan of Long Khanh City, become a spearhead economic sector under the policies and resolutions of the province. He expected: “Hopefully Long Khanh fruit will continue to affirm the brand, develop and expand the market. Fruit orchard ecotourism routes in the city will be the rendezvous point for tours of travel companies inside and outside the province when passing through Long Khanh City.”
