In recent years, Dong Nai has always encouraged and promoted the application and transfer of science and technology into agricultural production. Dong Nai focuses on developing strongly science and technology potentials in the priority fields of agriculture and rural areas. Thanks to the innovation and enhancement of research and application of science and technology in agriculture, rural areas and farmers,t province has made profound and comprehensive changes, ensuring the stable development of agricultural production although the industry faces many difficulties in market fluctuations, natural disasters, epidemics, etc.
According to the report of the Department of Science and Technology, in the period of 2010-2019, the whole province has 102 topics and provincial and provincial agricultural projects. As a result, 45 provincial projects and 19 district-level projects in the field of agriculture and rural areas have been checked and transferred and applied science and technology in production. Many topics and projects have met the actual needs of farmers. Specifically, on the topic of Completing the Tan Trieu pomelo value chain, Dong Nai has assessed the current situation of the entire Tan Trieu pomelo value chain, proposed directions and solutions to develop and perfect the value chain in the direction of improving productivity, yield and quality; reduce costs, lower product costs; improve brand value, develop markets for these agricultural products,… The project 'Establishing the right of geographical indications for Tan Trieu pomelo products' (Vinh Cuu district) and Long Khanh rambutan products has created a basis for these specialty fruits to become a strong brand in Vietnam's fruit market. Projects on mango production according to GlobalGAP Xuan Loc district standard; production of GlobalGAP standards in Cam My district; advanced production models in an organic way for Thanh Son mandarins, Dinh Quan district, etc., have provided practical support to farmers in changing their farming practices to branding agricultural products by their quality reputation.

The project “Building GlobalGAP standards mango production” - Xuan Loc district implemented by the Department of Science and Technology has provided much support to farmers such as: effective farmer support in the prevention of mango fruit fly flies; support for mango farmers to achieve GlobalGAP certification; support for building brand and mango website for Suoi Lon mango cooperative. In addition, the program also guides cooperatives to be considered for planting area codes for 40 hectares of mangoes. As a result, many foreign businesses or activities in the field of agricultural exports have contacted the cooperative to discuss the export of mangoes into difficult markets.
Mr. Nguyen The Bao, Director of Suoi Lon Mango Cooperative, said: “Thanks to the construction of a clean mangrove-growing region, GlobalGAP-certified, with a website promoting the product, the Suoi Lon mango brand is well-known by the market. For many years, cooperatives recently granted with a plantation code have opened up a great opportunity for boosting the export of this product”.
According to the Director of the Department of Science and Technology Nguyen Thi Hoang, at present, apart from implementing projects and projects in service of agricultural and rural development, the Science and Technology Program will support businesses to improve their competitiveness, apply advanced quality management system, protect intellectual property in the integration process. This program will also support farmers and cooperatives to develop high-tech agricultural development models; support VietGAP and GlobalGAP good agricultural practice certificates; support for branding, building Website to promote products, traceability, etc. In the integration stage, the application of science and technology in traceability associated with the chain of production and sustainable consumption is also a content of great interest because in order to compete well in the export market, it is necessary to implement the transparency of information in production as well as product quality.
