With an aim of reducing traffic pressure and creating landscape axes for Bien Hoa urban area, the central trunk road of Bien Hoa City is being considered to be extended.
The Provincial People's Council has approved the investment policy of the central axis of Bien Hoa City from Vo Thi Sau street to Dang Van Trang street.
Extending the central axis to Vuon Mit intersection
According to Department of Planning and Investment, the central axis of Bien Hoa City will be from Vo Thi Sau street to Dang Van Tron street. This is a group A project and a level II urban project with a bridge across the river. The route is over 5km long and has a total investment of about 3,130 billion VND.
Regarding design options, the central axis of Bien Hoa City is divided into 2 branches. Branch 1 has the beginning of the intersection with Vo Thi Sau street and the end point with Dang Van Tron street (at the intersection of An Hao bridge) with nearly 3.6 km long. In this part of the road, there will be Thong Nhat bridge with nearly 530m long, connecting Thong Nhat and Hiep Hoa wards. Branch 2 has the first point at the roundabout and intersects with branch 1 in Hiep Hoa ward and the end of the intersection with Dang Van Tron Street (at the intersection of the beginning of Buu Hoa bridge) with nearly 1.8 km long.
However, recently, at a meeting with the People's Committee of Bien Hoa City, the Provincial People's Committee asked Bien Hoa City to consider and extend the central axis of Bien Hoa City.
Director of the Department of Planning and Investment Ho Van Ha said that the central axis of Bien Hoa City is not only intended for traffic connection but also urban embellishment. Therefore, Bien Hoa City People's Committee should conduct a survey and select an implementation plan to extend this route from Vo Thi Sau street to Vuon Mit intersection.
With this plan, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Cao Tien Dung asked the People's Committee of Bien Hoa City to consider and select the appropriate plan in order to relieve traffic pressure, to embellish urban areas and to create a central axis of Bien Hoa City.
According to Mr. Huynh Tan Loc, Vice Chairman of Bien Hoa City People's Committee, previously, in the plan to build the central axis of Bien Hoa City, this route was planned to extend from Vuon Mit intersection to Dang Van Tron Street. Bien Hoa City People's Committee also worked with the railway management to develop a plan to build the North-South railway route through Pham Van Thuan street. However, through survey and investigation, it was noticed that the section from Vuon Mit intersection to Vo Thi Sau street was densely populated. Therefore, the ground clearance for project implementation is very difficult according to the assessment. That is why departments and agencies have agreed to "downsize" the project scale, only building the section from Vo Thi Sau street to Dang Van Tron street.
Also according to Mr. Huynh Tan Loc, after the direction of the provincial People's Committee, Bien Hoa City has conducted surveys, studies and set up proposals for investment policy of the project. The scale of the section from Vo Thi Sau to Vuon Mit intersection is about 1.2 km in length, estimated investment of about 1.7 trillion dong.
Calculation of width adjustment of roadbed
The perspective of Thong Nhat Bridge is part of the
central axis project of Bien Hoa City
According to the design plan of the central axis of Bien Hoa City, branch 1 from Vo Thi Sau Street to Thong Nhat Bridge will have 95m of road bed in width including sidewalks, parallel roads, main roads, median strips, strips of green trees. Thong Nhat Bridge is 31m wide and the behind section to the end has 60m of road bed in width.
Meanwhile, for branch 2, the starting point at the roundabout intersects with branch 1 of Hiep Hoa ward and the end point with Dang Van Tron Street proposed by Bien Hoa City is 47m wide.
According to the Director of the Department of Planning and Investment Ho Van Ha, the proposed road width for branch 2 of the central axis of Bien Hoa City is currently not appropriate. Because this route has a standard cross-section of 50-70 m according to Bien Hoa City's general plan. Therefore, Bien Hoa City should consider adjusting the width of the road bed for branch 2 to 60m to fit the overall plan and design of the entire route. As expected, the central axis of Bien Hoa City from Vo Thi Sau street to Vuon Mit intersection also has a width of 60m.
According to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the consideration of adjusting the width of Branch 2 is not only suitable to the plan but also creates a synchronization with the entire central axis project of Bien Hoa City. From there, it can create great value in terms of landscape, serving Bien Hoa urban embellishment.
To build the central axis of Bien Hoa City, the section from Vo Thi Sau street to Dang Van Tron street will get about 131 households to move out of the project area. Currently, Bien Hoa City People's Committee is implementing the construction of resettlement areas for the site clearance. As expected, the central axis project of Bien Hoa city will be implemented from 2020-2024. The capital source for project implementation is the provincial budget capital.
