Finding opportunities for Vietnamese goods in this Covid-19 pandemic

The Covid-19 epidemic has greatly affected businesses, especially when our country's economy has a large openness and is highly dependent on exports. Therefore, it is important to find solutions to overcome difficulties and boost exports when the epidemic is over, especially taking advantage of opportunities from free trade agreements (FTAs).

* Restructuring production and business

In the current scenery, businesses need to devote serious and proper investment to improve product quality. Along with that, businesses take advantage of the available Vietnamese products to produce products that meet the increasing demands of domestic consumers.

Representatives of the Small & Medium Sized Enterprises Promotion Center under the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) said that small and medium-sized enterprises should proactively capture information, change business thinking and adapt to international practices to develop market-oriented development, taking advantage of opportunities from FTAs, including the EVFTA agreement that was officially approved by the European Council in late March.

Ms. Chu Hai Yen, representative of Lothamilk Joint Stock Company (Bien Hoa City), said that Lothamilk will deploy a plan to balance production and ensure supply for the market in the near future. Meanwhile, the company will continue to develop distribution channels across the country, focusing on the domestic market with quality assurance products, eye-catching and convenient models manufactured under current production lines in order to take advantage for competitiveness improvement in the market.

Similarly, Mr. Pham The Linh, Director of The Linh Co., Ltd. (Bien Hoa City) shared that when the epidemic situation had many positive changes, the situation of production, import and export had many positive signals. In fact, the company will actively restructure production based on actual market demand. At the same time, the company will also work with partners and distributors to find the best solution for sustainable development for the next period.

Vietnamese goods are increasingly trusted

For consumers, the past social distancing time is also an opportunity for people to have more perspectives on Vietnamese goods. Truc Le, an office worker in Thong Nhat Ward (Bien Hoa City), said that before, she used imported goods because she thought that foreign goods were high-class and quality. However, after this pandemic, buying foreign goods was quite inconvenient because of scarcity, high prices due to the increased costs, causing her to change the habit of choosing Vietnamese goods.

According to representatives of some supermarkets, due to the limited quantity of imported goods because of the impact from Covid-19 epidemic, along with abundant domestic goods, increasingly good quality, more eye-catching designs so Vietnamese goods are interested by consumers and used more.

Mr. Trang Phuc, a representative of Marketing Group of Co.opmart Bien Hoa, said that for nearly a month, the supermarket temporarily stopped importing more goods for imported goods such as food, necessities, agricultural products, due to the effects of the Covid-19 epidemic affecting the delivery of these products.

Similarly, Mr. Nguyen Le Cao Tuan, Director of Lotte Mart Dong Nai, said that the demand for shopping Vietnamese goods in the time of epidemic was increasing. Consumers are increasingly interested in Vietnamese milk, domestic food ... than imported products of the same type. Because, the supply of domestic products is plentiful, increasing improvement in quality, design, packaging…
