Donating blood to save people is a noble act, with a noble gesture and profound humanity. Over the past years, with the efforts of all sectors and levels and the positive response of the whole community, the nationwide voluntary blood donation movement in general and Dong Nai province in particular has achieved very satisfactorily good results.

* Diverse forms of blood donation reception
According to Ms. Do Thi Phuoc Thien, Deputy Head of the Provincial Voluntary Blood Donation Steering Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross, from 2000 to 2002, the blood donation activities mainly took place in hospitals. In 2003, for the first time, the province organized a Voluntary Blood Donation Day at the Convention and Event Center with the result of receiving 301 donated blood units from all walks of life. This is the premise for the province to organize activities to receive voluntary blood donation in 2003 and subsequent years.
In the first year of receiving blood donations outside the hospital, the province received nearly 2 thousand blood units. 17 years later, the province's voluntary blood donation has increased nearly 17 times, at 32,667 blood units. And from 2003 to 2019, the whole province has received 317 thousand units of blood.
Along with that, Dong Nai is one of six provinces in the Southern region to receive 350ml of blood/ donor/ donation instead of just 250ml/ donor/ donation like other localities.
• Many typical examples of blood donation
In the first years, the percentage of repetitive blood donors (continuing to maintain the next blood donations) of the province accounted for only 35 - 55%, since 2014, the percentage of repetitive blood donors of the province has reached over 85%. Many individuals and families have repeated great blood donations, becoming a typical example of the blood donation movement in Dong Nai and nationwide.
These typical examples are commended by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross, in which 2 families in the province that are praised by the National Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Association and the National Voluntary Blood Donation Committee as a gold donating family with over 100 blood donations. Dozens of individuals are praised for their voluntary blood donation for 40 - 50 times by the National Voluntary Blood Donation Steering Committee.
Mrs. Vu Thi Diep (living in Phu Ngoc commune, Dinh Quan district), one of the two families who have been recognized as a blood donating family for over 100 times, said she has participated in blood donation since 2007. After 4 times of voluntary blood donation, she felt that her health is still in good condition; in addition, this is a deed to save people's lives, so she encourages her family to join. Up to now, her family has 8 members with 3 generations of blood donation for more than 110 times.

In parallel with the increase in the number of blood donors, the quality of donated blood in Dong Nai is always guaranteed. From the stage of selecting donors and encouraging blood donation to receiving and reviewing the health condition of blood donors, implementing medical measures to ensure the health of blood donors, and giving more gifts to the blood donors to recover their health, etc. are carried out fully and seriously.
