WP– On May 09th, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc chaired the Prime Minister's conference with businesses on the topic "making efforts, overcoming challenges, taking opportunities and restoring the economy". Attending the meeting at Dong Nai point were the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Ho Thanh Son; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Cao Tien Dung, together with representatives of Departments, branches and a number of businesses of the province.

The conference is organized with the largest scale ever, online with 63 local points, 30 points of ministries and branches as well as live broadcast on Vietnam Television Station. There are about 800,000 businesses nationwide and over 5 million business households.
Speaking at the Conference, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed that the Covid-19 pandemic has been affecting billions of people around the world, causing impacts and recessions in all sectors and fields. In the first quarter, Vietnam achieved a growth rate of over 3.8%. Although it is the lowest for the last 10 years, this figure is still high compared to the general situation of the world. The Prime Minister affirmed that when the social distancing is eased, the normal state will be established, now it is time to recover Vietnam's economy, striving for GDP growth of over 5%. In particular, Vietnam focuses on 5 aspects: attracting domestic investment; attracting foreign direct investment; accelerating exports; promoting public investment and encouraging domestic consumption.

At the Conference, there were 2 reports on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, challenges and opportunities, business development opportunities and notification of the basic content of the draft Government Resolution on removing difficulties for production and business activities, promoting disbursement of public investment capital, ensuring social order and safety presented by the Minister of Planning and Investment and the report presented by the President of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), summarizing recommendations and initiatives of enterprises and business associations; evaluating the effectiveness and level of reception and awareness of enterprises towards solutions and policies supported by the Government, and proposing solutions to support enterprises.
Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung said that according to the survey, about 86% of enterprises were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. It is expected that businesses’ revenue of the first four months will decrease by 30% compared to that in the same period in 2019.

At the conference, there were more than 20 times that associations, businesses, businessmen, ministries and agencies state their own opinion; over 80 direct petitions from 4 foreign business associations, 9 domestic business associations and nearly 440 petitions on the National Public Service Portal; 180 petitions were sent to VCCI.
Representatives of businesses and associations highly appreciated the drastic and timely measures of the Government in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic. Businesses and associations also wish to enjoy more open administrative reforms, boost the digital economy and develop information technology infrastructure.

Speaking at the conference conclusion, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed that enterprises are the key force on the economic front. The Prime Minister raised 3 requirements for businesses, one is that businesses shall not be dependent on development. Secondly, businesses shall make restructure of their own and improve management skills to develop sustainably. Thirdly, all levels and sectors, especially businesses and enterprises shall aggressively apply science and technology, especially Industry 4.0 to improve productivity.
Ministries and agencies, especially localities shall take specific action programs to solve difficulties for businesses to develop. Special attention shall be paid to businesses and disadvantaged workers, especially small and medium-sized ones. It is required to pay attention to deal with petitions of businesses faster and more efficiently, not to avoid responsibility and cause loss of business opportunities of businesses.
