Dong Nai holds a ceremony to announce durian export to China

(CTT-Đong Nai) – On the morning of June 16th, at the Long Khanh City Stadium (Long Khanh city), Dong Nai province held a ceremony to announce the export of the first durian shipment in 2023 according to the Protocol signed between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam and the General Department of Customs of China in Dong Nai province. Attending the ceremony were Mr. Hoang Trung – Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Vo Van Phi – Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and Mr. Tu Chau, Deputy Consul General of China in Ho Chi Minh City.

Many activities took place at the ceremony to announce the export of durian in 2023 such as: organizing the display area, introducing and taste testing durian; Seminar "Improving quality standards, increasing the competitiveness of durian exports to the Chinese market"...

At the event, 20 containers carrying 360 tons of durian (including Dona and Ri6 variants) left to transport exported durians to the Chinese market. It is estimated that Dong Nai will export 20 thousand tons of durian to China in 2023 alone.

With a total area of over 11,3 thousand hectares, Dong Nai province ranks first in the Southeast region and fourth in the country in terms of durian area, area capable to be harvested are nearly 6.6 thousand hectares, and it is expected to yield about 69 thousand tons in 2023. The province is also actively pushing to utilizing planting zone code, and packaging facilities to export to the Chinese market. Today, there are 820 ha of durian growing area that are granted planting zone code.

The "Improving quality standards, increasing the competitiveness of durian exports to the Chinese market" Seminar 

Mr. Vo Van Phi - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, emphasized that durian is one of the main crops of the province. Over the years, Dong Nai has focused on building specialized production areas according to export market standards with high quality and competitive prices, with the active participation of businesses in the global supply chain. In order to promote durian export, the province wants the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, central ministries, offices, domestic and foreign agencies and organizations to continue to pay more attention and support to Vietnam's durian fruit, bringing durian to consumers around the world. He hoped that businesses would continue to accompany, invest, expand production ... to improve quality, fully meet the technical requirements of world markets. The provincial government will continue to accompany, share, support, and promptly deal with difficulties and obstacles that businesses and farmers face so that agricultural products, especially key products of the province, meet the world's standard.

Mr. Hoang Trung - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, assessed that previously, Dong Nai has successfully organized many events on advertising and trade promotion for agricultural products. Dong Nai is located in the southern key economic region, the field of agriculture and rural areas is interested in investment and development by the province, so it has achieved outstanding achievements in new rural construction, production development... The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. highly appreciated the innovation and creativity in the agricultural sector of the province, specifically the well implementing construction of specialized export fruit growing areas, especially for durian fruit. However, local authorities must pay close attention to building durian brands in the international market and be transparent about product quality. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development ensured that they will accompany the province in expanding production and export markets.
