Converting nearly 487ha of forestry land

According to the Provincial People's Committee, from 2014 up to now, the province has 32 projects using forestry land. Therefore, nearly 487ha of forest land has been converted to other uses to implement projects as plan. In which, there are 29 projects changing the purpose to business land with an area of more than 389 hectares and 3 projects changing the purpose of use to public purposes with an area of over 97 hectares.
Projects that change the use of forest land to other purposes must pay for afforestation instead. Dong Nai currently has nearly 171.3 thousand hectares of forestry land, including nearly 102.3 thousand hectares of special-use forests, more than 33.8 thousand hectares of protection forests and nearly 35.2 thousand hectares of production forests. Forests in the province are concentrated in the areas of Vinh Cuu, Tan Phu, Dinh Quan, Xuan Loc and Nhon Trach districts. The province is also home to the largest number of special-use protection forests in the Southeast region. At the same time, the forest protection work of Dong Nai is quite good, there have been no major forest fires in recent years.
