For the remaining months of the year, the market surveillance forces have started to check goods circulation at the peak time in the province to strictly manage product quality and protect interests and health of consumers; in particular, to strengthen review of food business activities, multi-level marketing, prevention of counterfeit and contraband goods, etc.
The market surveillance forces are coordinating with the Provincial Sub-department of Food Hygiene and Safety to take samples of vermicelli and vermicelli sprouting to check for borax at a restaurant in Tan Hiep Ward (Bien Hoa City) in October 2020.
Many violations were detected
For the last months of the year, the market surveillance for food trading activities has been increasingly focused and strengthened. Many violations related to food hygiene and safety were detected. For example, in mid-October 2020, the Market Surveillance Team No. 1 (Dong Nai Department of Market Surveillance) coordinated with the Dong Nai Industrial Zones Authority and the Provincial Police to carry out a snap check in Mowi Vietnam Company Limited (Amata Industrial Park, Bien Hoa City), in which Ms. T.T.T.M is the representative of the company.
Through actual inspection, at the company's frozen warehouse, the competent forces found 52 barrels of Atlantic Salnun branded salmon of 30kg/ barrel and 31 barrels of oversea produced Frozen Atlantic branded salmon of 30kg/ barrel expired. In total, nearly 2.5 tons of salmon were overdue. The competent forces conducted the case file and temporarily seized all of the above-mentioned goods for verification and handling according to regulations.
After the Government's Decree 98/2020/ND-CP on regulating sanctioning of administrative violations in commercial activities, production, trading in counterfeit goods and banned goods, and protection of consumers' interests, officially takes effect from October 15, which stipulates the fine level for administrative violations of business activities in the multi-level mode; raises the fine level for acts of violation of contraband goods, "hand-carried" goods without relevant invoices and documents, etc.
Right after this Decree comes into effect, the Market surveillance forces have strengthened inspection and control in related fields. Most recently, on November 11, the Market surveillance team No. 2 (Bien Hoa - Vinh Cuu) coordinated with the police forces to inspect and find the representative of T.D Pharmaceutical Research and Development Co., Ltd. introducing products as functional foods for a special diet with the brand Hong Sam Ngoc Linh Dong Trung Ha Thao (Literally means Ngoc Linh Red Ginseng and Cordyceps) at Group 10, Quarter 3, An Binh Ward, Bien Hoa City. After introducing the product, the company representative sold 3 boxes for 1.5 million VND and 3 boxes as bonus to the customers.
Upon inspection, the company's representative could not present the business registration license and documents related to the product introduction, and failed to post its selling price as prescribed. The competent forces sealed and temporarily seized 150 boxes of Hong Sam Ngoc Linh Dong Trung Ha Thao mentioned above to further verify and handle in accordance with the law.
Vo Van Tinh, Acting Director of Dong Nai Department of Market Surveillance, advised that for the last months of the year, market surveillance will enter the peak time to check goods circulation in the province; in particular, focus on groups of essential goods, food, etc. Besides, the market surveillance forces will coordinate with units and localities to organize interdisciplinary inspection teams to strengthen inspection and handle violations related to counterfeit, contraband, and banned goods; and food hygiene and safety; regularly inspect and review at traditional markets, supermarkets, trade centers in the area, etc.
