On September 20th, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung set out to attend the ASEAN –China expo (CAEXPO) and the 9th ASEAN – China Summit on Investment and Trade (CABIS) in Nanning, Guangxi, China.

CAEXPO and CABIS are annual events co-hosted by the Chinese Ministry of
Trade and 10 countries of ASEAN in Nanning, Guangxi, China.
CAEXPO is among the top 10 exhibitions of China, playing an outstanding
part and becoming a destination not only for Chinese companies and ASEAN
businesses but other partners outside the region as well.
CABIS is a significantly important negotiation forum between ASEAN and
China to promote the strategic relationship between ASEAN – China, speeding up
the establishment of the free trade zone between ASEAN – China as well as
strengthening the economic and commercial relationship within the region.
After 8 events of CAEXPO, the total value of commercial trading was
worth more than 10 billion USD.
CAEXPO 2012, with the theme “Scientific and technological cooperation”,
focused on high-tech products, improved scientific, technological exchange, investment
and trade in order to encourage people reasonably utilize natural resources and
create a common harmonious community. Within the framework of this year expo, China
would also organize the “China – ASEAN 2012 vocational education exhibition and
seminar” and “Seminar on building ecological cities of China – ASEAN”
Among the 10 ASEAN countries, Vietnam always has the highest number of businesses
participating in CAEXPO, with the highest number of booths. In 2011, Vietnam registered
196 ones with more than 120 companies. The total value of signed contract was
950 million USD. This year, Vietnam will join CAEXPO with 200 booths, which is the
highest number among other ASEAN countries at the Expo.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung took part in CAEXPO and CABIS this year
in order to strengthen the political beliefs, reassure the orientation of the
Vietnamese Party and Government toward developing comprehensive relationship
and cooperation with China, express the trend to resolve disputes and newly
developed issues in the East Ocean peacefully so as to prevent affecting the
relationship between the two Parties, Governments, at the same time support
Vietnamese businesses in the exhibition to find and extend their opportunity in
Chinese market, improve relationship with other marginal provinces of China
especially with Guangxi in terms of economy, trade and investment.
Chinese leaders and Guangxi leaders highly appreciate Vietnam’s
participation and support in all events of CAEXPO and CABIS.
