The U.S Ambassador to Vietnam Michael W. Marine visits Dong Nai province.

The U.S Ambassador to Vietnam Michael W. Marine on February 28th paid a working visit to Dong Nai province. Mr. Vo Van Mot, chairman of the provincial People’s Committee received and worked with the Ambassador.

At the reception, the chairman of the provincial People’s Committee warmly welcomed the Ambassador on his first visit to the province. Presenting a brief report on province socioeconomic development especially since 1998, the chairman focused on the face that in 2005 Dong Nai province reached a record GDP growth rate of 14%. It is regard as a final output of 5-consecutive-years trial of local people and the business circle across the province. Dong Nai is an attractive destination for investors in term of foreign direct investment attraction. The production value of foreign invested sector accounts for 50% of the total production value. The chairman also informed the Ambassador of the province’s effort to keep the GDP growth rate of 14% to 14.5% in the next five years so that Dong Nai will turn into a modernized and industrialized province.

The Ambassador appreciated the successes the province has gained, especially the recognized position across Vietnam in term of investment competition. The Ambassador said he was impressed by two issues in the provincial policy to call for investments, including fast deciding ability as well active measures to work with investors.

At the meeting, two sides agree to have more talks to discuss mutual interests in an effort to reach more and more comprehensive and effective relationship between Vietnam and the U.S.
