Nine Vietnamese products to enter the Asia – Pacific Information and Communication Awards in Chiang Mai City, Thailand.

The APICTA was initiated and organized by Mr. Dato Mahathir Mohammad, former Prime Minister of Malaysia for the first time in 2001 and 2002 in Malaysia, then in 2003 in Thailand, 2004 in Hong Kong; the Contest will held in turn by the participating countries. The Contest, held by the hosting country, grants 14 Golden Cups based on the scores given by an International Examination Board formed by the national Examination Boards of the participating countries. APICTA Golden Cups are conferred on high – professional level industrial products those in the development and student research field belonging to 14 ICT (Information and Communication Technology) branches, of which 11 are specialized branches with applied ICT products in the following fields: Education and Training Health, Information safety, electric government and public services; Industries; Business - Finance – Banking non-financial business, electronic Trade, Tourism. Telecommunications, Entertainment industries; and 3 branches in the development and student research field: Project for IT Development and Research; ICT Project gor university students, ICT Project for high school students.

The APICTA Contest is particularly important in intensifying the exchange, speeding up the collaboration and developing ICT industries in Asia – Pacific. The APICTA nature is contest and competition. It is not a simple competition between enterprises, but a comprehensive competition between countries in terms of technique, science, technology, research, training and ICT applications. Through APICTA we can clearly see the ICT development level in each country. APICTA are really the dignified ICT prizes in the Asia – Pacific region in the present time.

The Vietnamese APICTA delegation headed by Dr. Nguyen Quy Son President of the Vietnamese APICTA, presented the following 9 products:

- “E- Office System” product of Dong Nai Department Science and Technology.

- “Smart Bank” and “The Business Information Management System” products of FTP Company.

- “IRP Solution an ERP Package “product of AZ Solution NEWSTECPRO.

- “Transparent Network and Transport Larger Nomilizer” product of the Applied Informatics Institute.

- “Ubiquitous Healthcare Information System” of the University of Foreign Trade in Ha Noi.

- “Vietnamese Sign Dictionary People Hearing Impairment” product of the Pedagogy University in Ho Chi Minh City.

- “The Online Portal – integrated News Providing Solution: mvn Forum and mvn CMS” product of Huu Ngoc (MVN Group).

In addition to Dr. Nguyen Quy Son, the other members of the Vietnamese 2005 APICTA are Dr. Hoang Le Minh, Deputy Director of Post and Telecommunications in Ho Chi Minh City, MS. Ngo Duong Hoang Thao, Vice – president of Oversea Vietnamese Business People’s Club in HCMC.

On Feb.17th, the Vietnamese delegation presented 04 products: “IRP Solution an ERP Packaged”, “Smart Bank”, “Traffic Monitoring System by Computer Vision”, “Vietnamese Sign Dictionary for People with Hearing Impairment” the remaining 5 products will be presented on Feb.18th. The final results will be announced in the evening of Feb.15th.

On the first contest day, Feb.17th, among 164 products presented at 2005 APICTA, some have received millions of USA invested for development. According to specialists’ general assessment, the products presented at the Contest this year are at a higher technological and professional level compared with preceding years, especially those coming from Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, and China…       

 Animated by a high national spirit and confident in the Vietnamese contestants’ high commitment to achievement Victory with their products presented, we hope that the Vietnamese delegation will win and bring many prizes to the Fatherland from the 5th APICTA Contest.
