European Chamber of Commerce (Eurocham) pledges to support Dong Nai in its investment promotion trip to EU members

On Monday afternoon, March 13, 2006, Vice Chairwoman of Dong Nai People’s Committee Dang Thi Kim Nguyen met with representatives of Eurocham and Amcham in Ho Chi Minh City to discuss the investment promotion trip to EU in the third quarter of this year.

pctdknguyen-daidienchauau Companying the vice chairwoman were representatives from provincial Department of Planning and Investment, provincial Department of Foreign Affair and provincial Industrial Zones Authorities.

There are now about 600 European enterprises in Vietnam. Most of them operate in the southern provinces of Vietnam. They have co-operated with each other to found this association. In 2005, 15 more enterprises joined the association. The investment potentials of European enterprises into Vietnam are very big. But European investors know little about Vietnam. As a matter of fact, the real investment into Vietnam is still low.

On discussing the investment promotion trip to EU with the Vice Chairwoman, Mr. Alain Candy suggested that the best time for Dong Nai to start its trip is in the middle of July or September. He also reminded that Dong Nai should focus on some leading countries in EU such as United Kingdom, France and German. He said that with the experience in helping Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to promote EU investment into their cities. Eurocham will help Dong Nai to held investment forums in some big industrial cities in EU such as Liverpool (UK) and Nobecdi (Italia). Finally, he advised the Dong Nai leader to pay more attention to the agenda for the trip to EU.

The Vice Chairwoman highly appreciated these suggestions and felt for sure that with the support form Eurocham Dong Nai will gain good prestige in EU investors’ eyes after this expected trip to EU countries.
