Simultaneously, the meeting was to commend 34 exemplary youth projects and 46 outstanding Youth Union members.

The meeting was attended by Dong Nai leadership: Member of the Central Party and Secretary of Dong Nai Party Committee Tran Dinh Thanh, Deputy Secretary of Dong Nai Party Committee and Vice Chairman of Dong Nai People’s Committee Dinh Quoc Thai, Head of the Commission for People Mobilization Work at Dong Nai Party Committee Bui Ngoc Thanh, Chairwoman of Dong Nai Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Thi Kim Lien, and Vice Chairwoman of Dong Nai People’s Committee Huynh Thi Nga.

Also, representatives for the Party organs, committees, departments, sectors and unions; through-term officers; representatives for the Party Committees, commanders of armed forces and a large number of Youth Union members and youth in the province were present at the meeting.

Secretary of Dong Nai Youth Union Bui Xuan Thong delivered an address to reminisce about the 80-year tradition of the establishment of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

Together with national youth movements, Dong Nai youth participated in the struggle for national liberation and defense.

Generations of Dong Nai officers and youth union members fell for the national liberation such as heroes: Dieu Xieng, Ho Thi Huong, Bui Van Binh and so on.

In the process of the country’s renovations and construction, such movements as “Five key purposes for socio-economic development and national defense”, “Four companions with the young people to prepare for life and career” have been effectively implemented by Dong Nai’s levels of youth union, which helps promote Dong Nai youth’s pioneer and voluntary spirit.

In addition, such voluntary youth movements as “The country needs you”, “Protect your hometown river”, “For needy children” and so on have attracted youth union members’ participation, contributing to finding youths with aspiration, revolutionary ideas, patriotism and responsibility towards the public and the country.

The building and organization of the Youth Union have received a lot of attention.

Throughout a half of its term, Dong Nai Youth Union admitted 81,386 members, making a total of 194,224 youth union members at more than 4,611 youth detachments.

8,750 exemplary youth union members were nominated to the Party and its 3,620 were admitted to the Party. The Unity Front to call for the youth’s participation have grown and expanded together with the development of the Youth Federation and its members organizations.

Thanks to these movements, many exemplary youth union members and collectives with a lot of creativeness are born, bringing a new vitality to youth union affairs and the province’s youth movements.

Addressing the meeting, Member of the Central Party Committee and Secretary of Dong Nai Party Committee Tran Dinh Thanh commended Dong Nai youth for their past-year efforts and achievements.

He placed an emphasis on the important role and the noble responsibility of youth union members that are clearly stated in the Central Party Executive Committee’s resolution no. 25-NQ/TW.

Thanh requested that youth unions continue their construction and need to grow stronger to deserve the Party’s right arm.

In the forthcoming time, Dong Nai’s levels of youth unions are required to strengthen youth union members’ and youth’s political and ideological education concerning Marxism-Leninism, and President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, example and morality, to get the youth oriented, and to help the youth promote their assault roles, and voluntary spirit in national construction.

Especially, youth unions are required to successfully implement “Youth year 2011” activities:

- Effectively maintain and implement the “Together with the youth on the way to preparations for life and career” movement with the “Grassroots quality is the key, the personnel is core, solidarity and gathering youth is the first task” motto.

- Continuously improve the quality of union members and of the activities of grassroots youth unions to make youth unions a place for union members to strive and devote.

- Levels of the Party committees, departments, sectors, unions ought to pay attention to and create favorable conditions for youth union members to promote their roles and then launch many effective and practical movements.

On this occasion, the standing committee at Dong Nai Youth Union awarded a “Brave youth” badge to Mr. Do Huy Thang, who obtained outstanding achievements in the preservation of security and order and died while on duty.

In addition, 79 commemorative “For the young generation” medals were awarded.

* Besides, March 26 through 27, Dong Nai Youth Union held a traditional camping festival – “Be proud of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’s 80 years”, which attracted the participation of 23 levels of youth union.

There were such camping activities as paying visits to and giving gifts to martyrs and veterans’ families,  eloquent contests, “Youth’s View”, “Healthy youth day”, and so on.
