Vice chairwoman of Dong Nai People’s Committee – Huynh Thi Nga is awarding a certificate to rank and recognize Bien Hoa citadel as a historic site

The Bien Hoa citadel was built during the Nguyen dynasty in the 19th century. This is a special military architecture in Dong Nai and neighboring areas. Throughout its existence and the ups and downs of history, Bien Hoa citadel has remained a historical witness for our ancestors’ indomitable spirit in the early days of reclaiming land and conquering territories. Simultaneously, it marks the country’s heroic history throughout the two wars against the French colonist and the American imperialist and promotes heroic traditions depicted in historic pages of Bien Hoa – Dong Nai.

Today, “Bien Hoa Citadel” does not stay as intact as it was but its remains are the evidence of our ancestors’ technology and military architecture. That the Bien Hoa citadel is recognized as a historic site on the occasion of the anniversary of the Vietnamese Culture Heritage Day has a major significance to arousing and raising national pride among the young generation.

On this occasion, the Management Board organized an exhibition to make some selective photos of Bien Hoa citadel, Vietnam’s Ancient Citadel and Old-and-Present-Day Bien Hoa known to local residents and tourists on the purpose of raising public awareness of responsibility towards the preservation and exploitation of Vietnam’s cultural heritage values. In the meantime, a workshop on the Bien Hoa citadel’s historical, cultural and scientific values as well as on solutions to its better preservation and restoration was held.
