Youths are raising the banner “Act to protect the environment” |
Under the slogan "Youths act to protect the environment”, Youth Month is mainly involved in performing publicity activities to raise public awareness of environmental protection and climate change, strengthening and establishing volunteer youth squads for a green, clean and beautiful environment; giving youth union members advice on job orientation and vocational training; organizing activities to support people living in poor communes, presenting the families who are social policy beneficiaries with gifts; spreading propaganda about traffic safety and against crime and social evils; carrying out Youth’s projects and responsibilities. Also, Youth Month calls for units to participate in youth projects. As a result, 3 projects at provincial level, 24 projects at district level and 1000 youth’s projects and responsibilities at grassroots level based on the motto, "One grassroots youth branch, one activity – a youth – a practical action to protect environment” were successfully implemented.

Youth Month is divided into four phases. The first phase from March 1 to 7 called “Act to protect environment” is involved in holding talks on environmental protection and establishing volunteer youth squads – “Green force”; implementing projects on clean water and toilets, registering for the implementation of youth projects and having computers connected with the Internet. The second phase from March 8 to 14 called “Youth and Career” revolves around organizing activities concerning advice-giving, job orientation, vocational training assistance and job placement for youth. The third phase from March 15 to 21 called “Youth act for social security” is aimed at gratitude, humanitarian blood donation and traffic safety activities and at accelerating administrative reform. The fourth phase from March 22 to 31 called “Welcome the birthday of the Youth Union” focuses on organizing activities to welcome the 79th anniversary of the Founding of the Youth Union and get-togethers and boosting the implementation of 2010 activities.

Petro Vietnam’s representatives offer computers to Dong Nai grassroots Youth Union |
At the launching ceremony, Petro Vietnam presented the grassroots Youth Union with two computers and pledged that it would provide 171 computers for all grassroots youth unions in Dong Nai. On this occasion, Mobifone awarded the students trying to overcome poverty ten scholarships worth VND10 million. Right after the ceremony, Dong Nai Youth Union visited and offered gifts to the families who are social policies beneficiaries in Bien Hoa City and Bien Hoa Municipal Youth Union organized a walk for youth.

Addressing the launching ceremony, Vice chairwoman – Huynh Thi Nga proposed that youth unions at all levels focus on organizing intensive political courses for all union members to welcome the Party Congress at all levels and to aim for Dong Nai Party Congress and the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long - Ha Noi; spreading propaganda about and raising awareness of environmental protection; cooperating with committees, sectors and unions in assisting youth union members in participating in local socio-economic development programs and projects; boosting propaganda and calling for youth union members and youth to participate in social and gratitude activities; giving local authorities advice so that Youth Month will exert practical effects on each locality and each unit.

*On the morning of February 28, Dong Nai Youth Union collaborated with Dong Nai General Hospital in providing free medical exams for and giving medicine to people in Thong Nhat ward.
