The Congress approved of the report on the Union’s work and Dong Nai’s youth movements during the 2004-2009 period and set tasks for the 5th Session of the Congress in the 2009-2014. Over the past five years, all levels of the Union and its members have united and attempted to successfully implement the Resolution of the Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union of Dong Nai province (Session IV). Particularly, youth from all works of life have been called for to study, work and compete with one another to make themselves and their localities rich. All levels of the Union have made an effort to promote movements with a variety of models. Those are such models as “Youth Do Good Business”, “Green Summer Voluntary Campaign” and “Youth’s Creativity”. Thereby, youth can seize opportunities for their studies and improving skills in life, community activities and other activities and opportunities for family income increase and so on. A large number of young people have responded to the Union’s five campaigns, which have achieved lots of encouraging results. Until now, the union membership in the province has totaled 232,444, up 137% compared to the early-stage term.
To promote its achievements, the Congress set key tasks for 2009-2014 period, which is to encourage 60% of youth into the Union, form 40% major force, establish 20 to 30 sub-unions in private businesses, foreign-invested businesses and boarding houses and launch three huge campaigns “Youth Live Right and Useful”, “Voluntary Youth for Social Security and Environmental Protection” and “Youth Promote Independence, Establish Their Business and Get Rich Legitimately” successfully.
Also at the Congress, delegates contributed their ideas to the draft Document of the Congress and heard speeches concerning economic matters, youth mobilization work and so on.
Attending and addressing the Congress, Vice president of the Vietnam Youth Union – Phan Van Mai – praised the achievements that Dong Nai’s Youth Union has obtained in recent years and proposed that the Union pay more attention to youth in rural areas, religion, women and young workers, disseminate youth mobilization models and seek for new models for more effective youth mobilization work.
Addressing the Congress, Ms. Bui Ngoc Thanh – Head of Dong Nai Commission for People Mobilization Work requested that all levels of the Union focus on improving the operation quality, grasping the situation in grassroots units and changing in both form and content so that the Union will become a solidarity front that helps mobilize youth, accompanies youth and promote youth’s key role in the province’s socio-economic development process.
The Congress conducted a negotiation to select 43 members for Dong Nai’s Vietnam Youth Union Committee Session V. Mr. Tang Quoc Lap was elected the President of the Union. Also, the Congress selected delegates to attend the 6th National Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union.
On this occasion, twelve collectives received the certificates of merit from the Central Union and twelve collectives received the certificates of merit from Dong Nai People’s Committee.
