Address the meeting, Vice chairman of the provincial People’s Council – Huynh Chi Thang stressed that this meeting took place in a context of first many difficulties and challenges in the process of trying to complete socio-economic target for the whole when the first half of 2009 has passed. Therefore, the meeting will consider and decide on many important issues to perform the targets for economic development, which are associated with the province’s social security targets the executive board of the provincial Party has proposed in 2009. Particularly, delegates will focus on discussing the analysis and assessment of the impact of unfavorable factors to the process of implementing the socio-economic tasks and targets according to the Resolution of the provincial People’s Council. Thereby, solutions to preventing economic downturn, developing production and business and stablizing social security will be produced.
Also at this meeting, delegates spent much time considering and approving a series of documents, special project and some reports of the provincial People’s Council. The meeting will take place for 3 days, from July 14 to 16.

The provincial People’s Committee says that in the first half of 2009, the province’s GDP is estimated to represent 41.9% of the plan, up 7.14% over the same period and the industrial production value rises by 7.15% compared to the same period. Agriculture is guaranteed and no diseases or epidemic has occurred. The investment capital from the provincial budget increases by 45.6% over the same period. Culture, society and job creation have received special attention. Over the first six months of the year jobs have been generated for 53,300 laborers, accounting for 62.7%. In addition to advantages, in the first half of the year, the provincial economy also encountered many difficulties due to the impact of the world economic recession.
