A Mass Meeting Held to Respond to the National Labor and Safety Sanitation-Fire Prevention Week 2011

Vietnam Labor Federation’s certificates of merit and commendation flags are awarded to the units and individuals that have worked effectively on Labor and Safety Sanitation-Fire Prevention

The National Labor and Safety Sanitation-Fire Prevention Week 2011 is entitled as “Labor and Safety Sanitation for Families’ Happiness and Enterprises’ Sustainable Growth”.

Throughout a week, many activities concerning labor and safety sanitation - fire prevention and fire drills were held in agencies, units and businesses for propaganda and examination purposes.

The activities were held to attract the attention and the response from all levels of authorities, sectors, businesses, manufacturers, employers, workers and all the community socially and significantly for a good implementation of Labor and Safety Sanitation-Fire Prevention regulations.

The activities were not only help protect workers’ and businesses’ health and property, but bring happiness to their families, the community and contribute to promoting the general development.

The meeting

In addition, these activities were a chance to offer rewards and praise to the units who have taken a good care of workers’ health and working environment.

The meeting was held to convey a message that labor and safety sanitation-fire prevention is a prerequisite  for every business, the country and every locality’s sustainable development.

Addressing the launching ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of Dong Nai People’s Committee Huynh Thi Nga stressed that Dong Nai is located in the key economic region with a lot of manufacturing industries such as electricity, chemicals, engineering, construction, mining and garment-textile that require labor and safety sanitation-fire prevention.

For this reason, Dong Nai considers labor and safety sanitation-fire prevention as one of the most important tasks for its development.

A fire drill in Dong Tien company

Through the assessment of workplace accidents, fires and explosions that occurred in 2010, Vice Chairman of Dong Nai People’s Committee asked government agencies to:

- Play a key role in giving directions, conducting inspection and monitoring closely how businesses and manufacturers have obeyed the employment law and the regulations on labor and safety sanitation-fire prevention.

- Deal with violations of the regulations on labor and safety sanitation-fire prevention strictly.

- Promote the dissemination of knowledge concerning labor and safety sanitation-fire prevention measures for both production and daily life activities, especially for the use of electricity, chemicals, agricultural pesticides in rural areas where there must be stringent regulations on safety, sanitation, and fire and explosion prevention.

Vice Chairman of Dong Nai People’s Committee asked that employers make practical action plans to minimize the possibility of workplace accidents, occupational diseases, fires, and explosions and that focus on the improvement of working conditions, and healthcare services for workers.

After the meeting, Dong Nai Steering Committee held a fire drill in Dong Tien Joint Stock Company.

It is known that Dong Nai will host the ceremony to launch the National Labor and Safety Sanitation-Fire Prevention Week 2012.
