APICTA Contest was initiated and organized for the first time by Mr. Mahathir Mohammad, former Prime Minister of Malaysia in 2001 and 2002; then in 2003 in the Thailand, in 2004 in Hong Kong and in turn by participating countries. This Contest, organized by the hosting county, grants 15 golden Cups based on the scores given an International Examination Board formed by the participating countries. APICTA Golden Cups are conferred on industrial and professional products belonging to 14 applied professional ICT (Information and Communication Technology) field, 11 of which are specialized branches with professional-level products in applied ICT industries in the following fields:

1. Education and Training.

2. Health

3. Information safety

4. Electronic government and public services

5 Industries

6. Business, finance, banking

7. Non-finance business

8. Electronic trade

9. Tourism

10. Telecommunications.

11. Entertainment industries.

And 3 specialized branches for development and student research:

12. Project for ICT research and development (ICT R&D).

13. Project for university student ICT.

14. ICT project for high school students, Cups for Research and Development for university and high school students.

APICTA Contest is particularly important in intensifying the exchange and developing ICT industries in Asia – Pacific region. The Awards nature is contest and competition. It is not

 only a simple competition between enterprises, but a comprehensive competition between countries in technical, scientific and technological level, in research, training and ICT applications. Through APICTA we can see the development level of ICT in each country APICTA are truth the most dignified ICT prizes in the Asia – Pacific region in the present time.

The Vietnamese APICTA delegation headed by Dr. Nguyen Quy Son, President of the Vietnamese APICTA Examination Board, presented 09 ICT products in 06 fields. The “Electronic Office": product of Dong Nai Department of Science and Technology was selected by the Vietnamese Delegation to enter the contest this time.

On February 17th the Vietnamese delegation presented 04 products at the contest; 05 remaining ones will be showed on February 18th, including the “Electronic Office” product of Dr. Pham Van Sang Director of Dong Nai Department of Science and Technology.

Animated by the national spirit and a high winning commitment with its presented products, we hope that the Vietnamese delegation will win and bring back many prices to the fatherland from the 5th APICTA Contest.
