Meeting of nuns and religious women held on the anniversary of the International Women’s Day

On the morning of March 7, Dong Nai Women’s Union held a meeting of nuns and religious women to mark the 98th anniversary of the International Women’s Day (March 7) and the uprising of Hai Ba Trung (Trung Sisters) 1968 at the provincial Fatherland Front Committee. Participants were nearly 100 nuns of Buddhist, Catholic and Cao Dai religion.

Provincial Women’s Union awarded certificates of merit to the individuals who made considerable contributions to the general development of the community.

        With friendly and cozy atmosphere of the meeting, nuns reviewed the fine traditions of Vietnamese Women, summed up their achievements gained in the past time and set up new targets in the coming time.

        In the past time, the nuns had positively participated in social charitable activities such as visiting and supporting flood victims, offering gifts to the poor, the lonely elderly, orphans, disabled children, Orange Agent victims, offering gratitude houses to the poor families, taking care of the elderly, bringing up orphans and disabled children, and so on. Following the motto “leading a good life while practicing religion”, more than 100.000 religious women of the province so far have taken part in the Union so as to help each other.

        At the meeting, the provincial Women’s Union awarded certificates of merit to 6 organizations and 9 individuals who did charitable activities well and contributed to the general development of the community.

        On this occasion, Buddhist nuns of the province decided to reward VND8 million to help fellow-citizens of the Northern provinces hit by the prolonged cold spell.
