10th anniversary of Dong Nai Union of Science and Technology Association (DUSTA)

On the morning of March 20, Provincial People’s Committee collaborated with Provincial Party Committee’s Propaganda and Training Department to solemnly hold a ceremony to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Dong Nai Union of Science and Technology Association at the meeting hall of the Provincial People’s Committee. Participants were Dr. Trinh Quang Phu from Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Association (VUSTA), Tran Dinh Thanh – Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Huynh Thi Nga – Vice Chairperson of the Provincial People’s Committee.

        The union members of VUSTA were established and have come into operation since 1991, but Dong Nai Union of Science and Technology Association (DUSTA) was officially established in 1997. After ten-year establishment and development period, DUSTA now has 23 union members. Along with the strong organization, the Union and its members have performed the tasks and as a result that they harvested such positive changes as gathering intellectuals, popularizing knowledge of science and technology, and doing scientific researches, etc.

        Addressing at the ceremony, Trinh Quang Phu highly appreciated the efforts of DUSTA over the past ten years and recommended that it was necessary to boldly remove the State-subsidized mechanism, actively renovate and find creative operation modes so that we can deserve to become the driving force of the revolution.

        Reportedly, the Union will operate independently in term of the finance in the coming time and ensure that it can attract 40% of intellectuals by 2010, and can manage to stand on its feet.

        On this occasion, 17 individuals received the medals conferred by VUSTA, and 3 organizations as well as 23 individuals received certificates of merit conferred by Provincial People’s Committee to individuals who have contributed to the development of DUSTA.
