In the past two years, the work of archives and records management has been paid much attention by leaders at all levels, thus it has made much progress at the localities, and particularly the local archiving management system has been gradually brought into full strength. The staff for the work of archives and records management increased, much attention was paid for training cadres, and material foundation and expense for this work were unceasingly strengthened, especially the investment in improving and upgrading data warehouses, and purchasing facilities to keep documents in good condition. At present, 40 units in 9 districts, towns, Bien Hoa city and 29 departments, and sectors are installing the management software which handled daily incoming and outgoing documents.
In the past two years, the Office of Provincial People’s Committee received 44,047 incoming documents, and issued 19,167 outgoing ones; 47,238 incoming documents were received and 36,125 outgoing ones were issued at districts, towns and city. Dong Nai provincial archiving centre attracted 270 people coming to explore information with 537 documents.
Addressing at the conference, Vice-Chairperson Dinh Quoc Thai praised the efforts and results gained in the work of archives and records management in the province. He simultaneously suggested that units and agencies should classify and build up the staff of cadres with their professional knowledge. Besides, special focus must be laid on organizing short-time and long-time courses on the work of archives and records management.
At the conference, 56 collectives and individuals was awarded certificates of merit for their excellent achievements in the work of archives and records management in the two-year period (2006-2007).
