Dong Nai Fatherland Front Committee holds its 2nd meeting (Session VII)

On the morning of July 22, the province’s Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee held its 2nd meeting (Session VII) for the purpose of approving its operations in the first half of 2009 and its tasks in the second half. The meeting was attended by Vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee – Tran Van Vinh and Head of the Commission for Cultural and Social Affairs of the provincial People’s Council – Nguyen Van Hung.

The meeting

    Vice President of the provincial Fatherland Front Committee – Nguyen Xuan Chien – said that the Committee, unions and member organizations have made visits to and offered more than 41,000 gifts worth over VND7 billion to the province’s government-funded families, the poor, ethnic people, the elderly, officers and soldiers over the first six months of 2009. The campaign “For the poor” alone has attracted the participation of many individuals and organizations. Specifically, in the movement “Unite and help each other increase production”, people from all walks of life contributed more than VND1 billion, over 16,000 public working days, a lot of seedlings and tree varieties to helping poor households increase production. The province‘s Campaign Commission for “Fund for the poor” has raised nearly VND2.3 billion. Thereby, 504 houses of compassion worth over VND8 billion have been built across the province... In particular, the Fatherland Front Committees of all levels always perform their roles in rallying people, establishing the people’s solidarity bloc and contributing to completing economic development targets, political stability and social order and safety in the province successfully...

    The meeting had a discussion on the results which were achieved in the first half of 2009 and the tasks which must be fulfilled in second half. Earlier, the meeting heard Vice chairman of People’s Committee Tran Van Vinh present a brief report on the province’s socio-economic situation and national defence and security in the first half of 2009.
