Environmental Protection Foundation: VND 18.6 billion lent in 9 months 2011

On October 25 Afternoon, the Council of Environmental Protection Foundation held the 2nd meetings to evaluate its results of nine months in 2011 and orientations and tasks in 2012. Vice Chairperson of the People’s Committee Phan Thi My Thanh, Head of Fund, chaired over the meeting.

As reported by the Environmental Protection Foundation (EPF), in nine months 2011, EPF received loans dossiers for eight projects totally worth VND 54.16 billion. Through examination, EPF approved 5 projects that were eligible for loans at preferential interest rate of 6.3%  per year with total loans of VND 18.6 billion (reaching 82%) and disbursements from the four projects were over VND 13 billion. Up to September 30, 2011, EPF has over VND 45 billion. At the meeting, the EPF council agreed to submit the People’s Committee for consideration and approval for giving it 80 percent of the takings from environmental protection charges for waste water, allowing it to use 70% the fees used for refurbishment and rehabilitation for mining operations so that it can give aid to environmental protection activities.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairperson Phan Thi My Thanh, Director of EPF Council, said that it is important to raise funds from units and businesses to meet loans requirements for environmental protection projects and that it is also essential to check up on the projects that EPF supported to evaluate the efficiency of capital use.
