Constructing kindergarten for workers’ children to be encouraged.

Recently, Provincial Confederation of Labour assigned project 404: “Support and develop private school for children inside industrial zones (IZ)” to all trade unions to co-operate and implement.​


Nowadays, in Dong Nai province, there are many enterprise investing on constructing kindergarten for workers’ children. Highlighting an effectively operating school, there is Dong Phuong kindergarten constructed by Phong Thai Corporation in Song May IZ, Trang Bom district. The school has 29 class rooms for 850 children nurtured by nearly 60 devoted teachers. They are mostly workers’ children and the meal fee is 430,000vnd/month/kid, school supplies uniforms and shoes are free. All operation costs are sponsored by Phong Thai Corp.
Lately, the second kindergarten constructed by Phong Thai Corp in Xuan Loc IZ were completed and put in to operation. The school’s construction expense was 65 billion vnd, having 31 classroom with 90 children whose parents are workers in the IZ. According to Ms. Tran Xuan Khue Tu – deputy director of Phong Thai Corp, after nearly 8 years of effective operation with Dong Phuong kindergarten in Song May IZ, Phong Thai Corp continues to invest for another kindergarten in Xuan Loc IZ to help workers in Dona Standard Company with a place for their children. The operation of the second school really satisfies the workers and helps them concentrate more on their extra shifts. When the children are old enough for primary schools, the kindergarten shall be responsible for school transferring procedures and send the children to the formal primary school closest to their parents’ work.

In Taekwang Vina, which has 90% of workers are female, invested over 50 billion VND to construct an IZ nearby kindergarten for workers’ children. The school has over 30 class rooms on 3 floors and expected to be completed this May. Mr. Dinh Sy Phuc – Chairman of Trade Union of Taekwang Vina Company, said that the school was currently recruiting preschool teachers and preparing equipment to get ready for 2016-2017 school opening. The school would start receiving school registration profiles of the workers’ children in June and July – 2016.After completion, the school was expected to provide 30 class rooms for 20-25 children each to ensure their learning and physical development.
Hwaseung Vina Company is a highlight with their investment on 2 schools. A kindergarten in Hiep Phuoc commune which was invested with 5 billion VND has been under operation for several year. Hwaseung Vina Company is continuing to invest 3 billion VND on another kindergarten in Long Tho commune which shall mostly serve workers’ children and local residents’ children. Some other enterprises such as Eclat Company in Nhon Trach invested 5 billion VND on a kindergarten which were put into operation from 2013 in hamlet 3, Hiep Phuoc commune. Vietcombank Nhon Trach invested 3 million on a kindergarten which were put into operation from 2015-2016 school year in Thanh Phu commune. Hyosung Company is pending approval for their 1 billion VND of investment on constructing a kindergarten for workers’ children in Hiep Phuoc commune.
Mr. Nguyen Bao Nam – Officers of Nhon Trach Office of Education and Training said that in 5 kindergarten invested by the enterprises, only Vietcombank invested kindergarten to have school supply and equipment sponsored by the commune. The other 4 are both invested and have school supply and equipment sponsored by the enterprises.
According to the project “Support and develop private school for children inside industrial zones (IZ), export processing zones (EMZ) to 2020” of Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, Dong Nai is one of the 10 provinces to have the most IZ and EMZ chosen to implement the project. Dong Nai province is currently having 32 IZ with over 700,000 workers, 70% of which are female and most or the workers are from the other provinces so they have high demand on sending their children (under 36 month old) to  private schools. Provincial Confederation of Labour set a target to 2017 to have 40% of working mother from the chosen IZ to be informed about raising awareness of developing and taking care of their children; and to 2020 to have 95%.
