According to consultant – Sub-Institute of Urban and Rural Planning in the South, Bien Hoa in the future will be developed into two urban areas is the traditional (wards, communes in Bien Hoa City before expanding) and new urban areas, Southern Bien Hoa.
It is estimated that by 2020, traditional urban areas will have population of around 850 thousand people and the population in 2030 to about 880 thousand people. This area is composed of two historic urban centers (including wards and communes of old Bien Hoa) and urban center expanded to the east (wards, communes in Eastern Bien Hoa).
With the new urban area of Southern Bien Hoa, the population in 2020 is around 350 thousand, and in 2030, about 520 thousand people. It is also formed two urban areas in East and West of Bien Hoa - Vung Tau highway. Thus, according to plan, Bien Hoa city will be developed into spatial structure of multi-center urban chain attached along the Dong Nai River and Highway 51 in combination with Dong Khoi Street for southward direction.
According to architect Nguyen Manh Dung, Chairman of Dong Nai Architects, traditional Bien Hoa area is quite crowded, more expansion is needed. In the new Bien Hoa area, residence is quite few so there will be plenty of conditions to plan the urban tidier and more modern.
According to the consultant, Bien Hoa has advantages characteristic of cultural history, landscape, water environment, thus developed into a city of good living environment to increase competitiveness with other cities. From those characteristics, the adjustment to common planning time focused more on character "culture - ecology" in planning. Mr. Ly Thanh Phuong, deputy director of the Department of Construction said that the proposes of consultants on development of Bien Hoa are quite reasonable, because the province is also pursuing green economic development, enhance quality of life of the people.
