Dong Nai province strives to reduce 5,000/35,705 poor households in 2007

Supporting poor policy beneficiary families in Tan Phu district

    So far, about 10,885 poor households have been offered preferential loans worth VND115 billion, accounting for 136% of year plan. Dong Nai Fatherland Front Committee called for building compassionate houses for poor households, and 500 compassionate ones worth more than VND 6 billion were built. As for health support, the Department of Public Health granted over 200,000 free health insurance cards to poor households. Besides, in the program on supporting ethnic minority people, nearly 3,000 poor ethnic minority households were supported with the total capital of VND1.5 billion to buy water tanks and dig wells in order to improve the use of clean water resources. As for eradicating hunger and alleviating poverty, nearly VND30 billion has been put into social-economic development plan, especially in deep-lying, remote and ethnic minority areas.
