(News Portal – Dong Nai) - At the end of August, Dong Nai province held a ceremony to hand over the entire premise of Long Thanh International Airport project to the investor. In addition, the work of reviewing and arranging resettlement for people in the project area is being accelerated by the authorities of Long Thanh district so that local residents can soon start their new lives.
Thousands of households have moved in Loc An - Binh Son resettlement area.
Nearly 4.3 thousand households have been approved for resettlement
For Long Thanh airport project, Dong Nai province must reclaim an area of about 5 thousand hectares. Of these, nearly 3.000 hectares are land owned by households and individuals, accounting for nearly 59% of the total project area. As of mid-September, the province has basically completed the work of land acquisition and site clearance.
Nearly 5.6 thousand households (more than 7,2 thousand cases) locate in the project's implementation area. During the implementation process, along with land acquisition and site clearance, the provincial authorities also reviewed and arranged resettlement for households whose lands were revoked.
Mr. Le Van Tiep, Chairman of Long Thanh District People's Committee, said that among the households affected by the project, there are nearly 4,6 thousand households subject to resettlement. As of mid-September 2023, out of a total of nearly 4,6 thousand households eligible for resettlement, the authorities have approved resettlement for nearly 4,3 thousand households. The remaining households are also being approved by the district's authority and are expected to be completed in October 2023.
According to the plan, all households eligible for resettlement under the Long Thanh airport project will be resettled in Loc An - Binh Son Resettlement Area. Statistics from Long Thanh District People's Committee show that currently, more than 1,6 thousand households have moved in and built houses in Loc An - Binh Son Resettlement Area after they were granted land.
Gradually stabilize people's lives
At the same time with the resettlement arrangements, the province's authorities are also implementing solutions to help people soon stabilize their lives in Loc An - Binh Son Resettlement Area.
Currently, vocational training for people in the project area has been implemented according to the approved project. However, according to the Provincial People's Committee, the effectiveness of vocational training for people is quite low because people have little need for vocational training.
Along with that, although the lives of people in Loc An - Binh Son Resettlement Area have gradually stabilized, they still lack public amenities such as markets and schools because these constructions have not yet been completed.
In mid-September, Suoi Trau Primary School was officially opened. This is the third school in Loc An - Binh Son Resettlement Area to be completed and put into operation. Previously, two preschools in this resettlement area had completed construction and welcomed students.
According to the plan, in Loc An - Binh Son Resettlement Area, 8 schools will be built including 4 kindergartens, 2 primary schools and 2 secondary schools to help educate children in the area. During the project implementation process, due to many challenges, the progress of schools building was slow. On the other hand, because the project's term has ended, disbursement of capital to school projects cannot be done.
Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Tan Duc said that in order to speed up the construction of schools and meet the education needs of people's children in the Loc An - Binh Son Resettlement Area, the locality's leader agreed to advance capital of more than 100 billion VND to continue constructing these projects.
Along with that, the construction of other social infrastructure projects such as markets and cultural centers are also being urged to speed up and complete as soon as possible, and put into service to meet the people's demand.
