Achieved remarkable results
In the midst of numerous difficulties and challenges, in 2023, the agriculture industry continued to grow well in all areas with many "firsts" and "bests". Specifically, the agricultural sector in Dong Nai province contributed to these achievements with an estimated economic growth rate (GRDP) in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries of 3.94%, higher than the national average and ranking third in the Southeast region, contributing 9.64% to the total GRDP of the province. In the construction of new rural areas, the province continues to maintain its top position nationwide and ranks first in the Southeast region in terms of the number of high-quality OCOP products.

This year also marks a remarkable growth in the province's agricultural sector in terms of both quantity and quality of fresh fruit exports. Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Tran Lam Sinh, assessed that in 2023, the agricultural sector efficiently implemented tasks and breakthrough solutions for organic agriculture development, agricultural application of advanced technology linked to agricultural processing and the agricultural market. It is projected that the total export volume of the province's main fruit products, namely bananas and durians, will reach 168,500 tons, with a value of nearly 4.8 trillion VND. This demonstrates the increasing reputation of Dong Nai's agricultural products in the international market.

Impressive results in fresh fruit exports were achieved as a result of Dong Nai's focus on building high-quality specialized fruit-growing areas with competitive prices in the export market. Enterprises actively participated in the global supply chain, playing a leading role in deepening connections and supporting monitoring in the production process. Importantly, businesses collaborated and connected with cooperatives and farmers in establishing cultivation area codes, ensuring product transparency, and increasing the trust of the international market in Vietnamese agricultural products.

Continuing the breakthrough efforts
Building on the achievements of the previous year, the agricultural sector continues to set high goals for 2024, contributing to the completion of the 5-year socio-economic development plan for 2021-2025. Specifically, the province aims to have 9 communes meet the advanced new-style rural standards, 8 communes meet the exemplary new-style rural standards, and 3 districts complete the advanced new-style rural standards. At the same time, efforts will be made to increase the GRDP of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries by about 3-3.5%; stabilize the forest cover rate at 52%; and achieve a rural household clean water usage rate according to the standard of 84.5%...

Mr. Tran Dinh Minh, Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that in 2023, despite facing many difficulties and challenges, the department closely followed the province's guidance, implemented practical measures, and coordinated comprehensively with various levels of agencies to overcome difficulties and challenges and achieve important and outstanding results. In particular, the sector achieved and exceeded targets in implementing breakthrough tasks for the development of organic agriculture and high-tech agriculture. In addition, the effectiveness of administrative reform work has been improved. Therefore, in 2024, the provincial agricultural sector will continue to strive for high goals, with a growth rate of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries GRDP ranging from 3-5%. The sector will continue to innovate, improve the quality of work, make breakthroughs, and successfully accomplish set tasks, especially in the areas of high-tech agriculture, organic agriculture, and attracting investment in deep processing of agricultural products...

According to Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Vo Van Phi, the agricultural sector has many objectives and tasks to accomplish in 2024, especially in building new-style rural areas where there is no stopping point. Therefore, in the first quarter of 2024, the agricultural sector needs to proactively implement the set tasks and plans. Localities need to build resolutions focusing on the construction of new-style rural areas, especially in the implementation of difficult criteria that may lead to violations. It is necessary to launch emulation movements and reward at the commune, district, and provincial levels to stimulate the positive participation of the entire political system.
