(News Portal – Dong Nai) - The Ministry of Transport has just issued Document No. 1711/BGTVT-KHDT sent to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha on granting Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee the authority to invest in Bien Hoa Airport Project.
The Ministry of Transport agreed to assign the Provincial People's Committee as the state agency to implement the Bien Hoa Airport project
According to the master plan for development of the national airports and airport systems in the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister, the People's Committees of provinces and cities have been assigned to plan new airports (including Bien Hoa and Thanh Son airports) to consider and report to the Prime Minister as the agency to carry out airport investment in the public-private partnership (PPP) method; deploy investment after ensuring efficiency, safety, and fully assessing relevant impacts.
The Ministry of Transport said that in November 2022, the Government issued Resolution No. 154/NQ-CP promulgating the Government's Action Program to implement Resolution No. 24-NQ/TW of the Politburo, and assigned the People's Committee of Dong Nai province is the organization in charge of implementing the project to upgrade Bien Hoa airport into a level 4E dual-use airport.
Thus, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province's proposal to be assigned as the state agency to invest in the Bien Hoa airport project is in accordance with the general policy of the Government.
Previously, at the end of October 2023, the Provincial People's Committee sent a document to the Ministry of Transport requesting to consider and approve allowing the province to sponsor with the detailed planning dossier product of Bien Hoa Airport. The Ministry of Transport later issued a document supporting this proposal.
In November 2023, Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee issued a Decision to establish an Investment Steering Committee to transform Bien Hoa Airport into a dual-use airport according to the Government's planning.
