There is no doubt that the private sector is making a major contribution to Dong Nai’s economy. Official statistics indicate that Dong Nai currently has almost 4,000 privately run enterprises including individual companies, limited-liability companies, shareholding companies and cooperatives with an investment of nearly VND 8,000 billion. Today, the private sector represents a large portion of Dong Nai’s GDP and appears to be growing every year. In order to boost the province’s economic potential, Dong Nai Cooperative Alliance and Non-State Enterprises set 2006 goals of achieving major breakthrough in the development of private economic sector. The province is attempting to develop the collective economic sector in diverse forms of cooperation and develop multidisciplinary or specialized business cooperatives in order to engage in either production or service activities while focusing on improving the effectiveness of collective economy and disseminating and multiplying the well operated cooperative models. Typically, Bau Ham agricultural service cooperative (Trang Bom district) has developed ecological tourism services through establishing fishing, eating and drinking areas and so on to serve tourists and become tourist destination. Bau Ham cooperative has created jobs and raised incomes for agricultural labors in Trang Bom district. Besides, many cooperatives are operating effectively such as Binh Minh, Hiep Luc and Ho Nai cooperatives (Bien Hoa city) making handicrafts, Gia Ray marine farming and cooperatives of agricultural service namely Xuan Phu (Xuan Loc district), Hiep Thanh, Vinh Quang, Go Me etc. Some models associating between agricultural cooperatives and processing premises have been built.
On the other hand, Dong Nai Cooperative Alliance and Non-State Enterprises this year will concentrate to develop traditional industries such as hand-made pottery, weaving, processing, construction, aquiculture, services, garment and textile, etc. Furthermore, some private enterprises in Dong Nai will make full use of their own advantages to increase their competitive capacities and expand their businesses on the international markets based on a strong position on the domestic market.
In addition, Dong Nai’s industry associations including such as pottery and petrol are encouraged to closely cooperate to develop and promote their own advantages as well as share their experience and knowledge aiming at achieving a sustainable and rapid growth of private economic sector.
Dong Nai’s private economic sector will be motivated in coming years.
For the period of 2006-2010, Dong Nai’s private sector sets the target to achieve an average GDP growth rate of 15-16% per year, contributing to more than 40% of the province’s GDP. The private sector will generate 35-40% of total export turnover of Dong Nai. Concretely, from now to 2010, Dong Nai Cooperative Alliance and Non-State Enterprises will build and develop 270 cooperatives in accordance with the new model. Privately run enterprises will be encouraged to invest in industries which have high competitiveness. This enables privately run enterprises to expand domestic consuming market and export market.
